hey guys im in the need for tyres and iv narrowed it down to these the rain sport 2's or the proxies T1-R's.
both i can get for the same price,
and size im after is 195/50/15 total will be £50 so since i need just 2 it will be £100 fully fitted all inc.

now iv read that these tyres both have a softer sidewall than few others however iv got a fairly light car, a mk3 fiesta so i dont think they should be a problem.

iv had T1-S's on the car in the past and found them to be very good except that they wore out rather quickly probably got about 6k miles on them or so before they needed changing.

as for the 2 in the title, iv read both seem to be decent for the price although they say the toyo grip better in the dry and the rainsports grip better in the wet.

one thing i dont know about is how the uniroyals wear? will they last as long as the toyos or will they wear out quicker?

what do you guys think? i really dont want to go over budget at want to stick to this price limit.

Uniroyals on a Mk3 mondeo lasted for about 18K miles on the front. They also do an XL which I think has a reinforced sidewall. Not sure if it'll be in your size though.

hmm if the rainsports work well on a mondeo then the softer sidewall should not be an issue on a fiesta.

18k is very good wear time, i will wait tiil around 11am for a few more replies but form wot iv heard so far the rainsport 2's sound impressive.

awsome looks like i will get these ordered then.
thanks for the input guys.

also maj how much mileage you done on yours so far? they lasting well?

Had Rainsports on a 306 and now on my ZS, very happy with them. They have a lot of tread from new and you can find they feel a little soft when cornering moderately quickly because of this - at least, they can feel soft to me and that's the explanation I have read elsewhere. I have the XL rated ones by the way. I've had them since December 11 and have covered around 16k, fronts are at 5mm and rears at 7mm, so they seem to wear very well. I've never felt I was lacking grip in the wet or dry with them either.

Rainsport2 get a lot of praise, T1R are better than super budget tyres, but nothing special.

I'd go for Rainsport2

You can also get Premium Contact 5 in that size, they get very good reviews. I put a set on the wife's car, they seem great in the wet.

i had rainsports on my fiesta ST and they were average at best.

if its just for a standard car then they are probably an ok choice but i certainly wouldnt use them on a performance car.

i had T1-R , thought they where pretty good for the money despite what this forum said

bought some wheels with rainsport2 on which people said are better , hilarious lift off oversteer...

worth noting the T1-r dont last very long as theyre pretty soft though

same sizes and pressures

Depends on your definition of good, I found them awful in comparison to actual good tyres that I am used to

True.

Compared the CSC3 on my VXR they are crap. Not sure you can really compare them with a different car in question though, as i had T1-R's on the Fiesta ST.

They replaced the god awful Yokohama Parada Spec 2 on the Fiesta though and was better in everyway.

There were two on the last set of alloys on my ZS - good tyres. I used to have T1Rs, but my God they wore out quick.

I've got Rainsports and have been pleased with them. I've got the XL rated and I'd still agree they're a little soft compared to other tyres I've had but it's never been a confidence breaker. Wet performance is their forte without doubt, I tend to do a fair bit of motorway driving and even when it's been really chucking it they've outdone my expectations for a midrange type tyre.

Got these on my E46, they've been very good and wear seems very low. The only thing I've noticed is there's a fair amount of road noise, but that could just be me not being used to lower profile tyres (had 15" on previous cars). Anyone else notice this?

Just got 4 RS2s fitted to my MX5. They seem to get a lot of love from MX5 users so giving them a go.
I cant really comment as they were fitted about 2 hours ago :P
Previously have had T1Rs on the front of my Astra VXR and got 20k out of them but it would seem I obviously drive like a old woman compared to most of the public and what they get...
