Firefly - Still worthy of a watch?

their were talks of a second movie, as all the partys involved with firefly are still interest in it. now because they are all busy it not possible to do but it might be possible in the future for another movie.
A second series would be cooler, for me, than a second film. Simply because a series would be longer than a film. :p

They all still seem to be keen to do something new with Firefly, I can see it happening
Yep. And Firefly's reputation can surely only grow. It's got such a cult following that it HAS to happen sometime!

Would wonder on potential second film considering Tudyk was killed off in the first. Got to be a series on the cards. The more Fillion, the better, in my opinion -- love that guy!
Either they introduce time travel to the Firefly world or they do some kind of prequel series between the end of the first series and Serenity. A second series or film in the Firefly franchise can't not have Alan! It wouldn't be Firefly without him and his humour.

well the reason why another series wouldn't be possible but a second film would be is that fillion is doing castle, torres is doing suits, Baccarin is doing homeland, Joss Whedon has the S.H.I.E.L.D TV Movie with the possible of a tv series if pick up plus he doing the avengers 2 movie. now because of this a series isn't feasible to do. a movie would be as it take less time than a tv series so if Whedon had time after S.H.I.E.L.D tv movie and Avenger 2 to write firefly movie 2 then it simply a matter of finding time when cast are on break from filming what they are doing to shoot movie. now i know everyone would perfer another series but at present the very best we get is a movie possible a mini series simiar to what farscape got with peacekeeper wars.

Also, yes is my answer to the OP's question. It's a great show and it's only a season long, so you can't go wrong with it.

Watch Serenity after, though

I will be honest here (and you are all going to shoot me down for it). Me and the OH watched these on LoveFilm a month or so ago

I felt that the first 7 episodes after the 1st one were just odd. No notion or relevance to the foundations laid out in the 1st episode, well nothing with any legs or meat.

It was only the last 7 or so shows which actually meant something and got you back on track with the original story and drew you back in, which is why I liked the film cause it ended and drew a line under some of the main questions left over from the series

I wouldn't watch it again, but if they ever did do another film or a new series then I would watch.

Also: the space fight scene in the film, when they are going to see Mr Universe for the 2nd time looks like a fight in Eve. My OH rates it as the best space fight scene ever - go shoot him if you disagree :p

Typical US series though. Set the scene, entice with juicy main storyline, completely disregard it for six or so episodes of filler then return to main story.

More like, typical US television execs, take tv series, jumble up the order, then air it in random places and claim "oh look, its not doing very well is it?"

Same as they did with Crusade (though that wasn't nearly as good as firefly)

I think if more Firefly is ever going to happen (PLEASE PLEASE) then it will be in the next couple of years. Whedon is on top form right not (in terms of successful films etc), and he should be in a good position to sell another series and/or film. That's if he wants to of course.

If they did make another one (highly unlikely, as much as I dislike admitting it)....how will they get around the storyline issues of....

((Spolier below for those (heathens) who haven't seen Serenity...))

...the fact that Wash and Shepherd are brown bread. Squish Season2 in before the storyline of Serenity? Write them out?

I found Shepherd to be one of the most interesting characters of the lot, writing him out of S2 would be a huge loss.

It's been a while since I've watched the move and series but there's nothing specific in the movie that means they couldn't do another series in between the series and movie other than having to keep characters alive is there?

From what I remember, this is correct. I vaguely recall that the film felt like there was a space of time between the series and the film, i.e. the film didn't carry on immediately from the last episode. So another series could indeed happen with the full original cast but the new series would have to merge into the film in terms of continuity so the Shepherd's past can't be discovered as we still don't know it in Serenity.
