Far Cry 3 Thread

The story missions are really fun! Alternatively there is a mod that unlocks all the skills and the second island right at the start along with other things.

Problem with focusing on hunting etc is you'll end up like I did with maxed out craft upgrades but only half way through through the game, which is kinda inefficient because you'll naturally come across prey later in the game anyway. Also as mentioned the skills are locked down pretty hard as well if you are doing a lot of side missions but not progressing the main story. An addition problem I had was to do with Wallet capacity, I was doing so many side-missions that I'd be constantly trying to find things to waste my money on so I get my cash down below the max allowed, but it was a bit of a self-perpetuating problem because I'd buy up all the maps which then told me where the treasure was...

From memory I played about 8hrs before I started making much of a move on the story stuff i.e. the Buck missions.

I don't think I'd ever find the plants if they didn't flash tbh :p

Lol, I guess this for a replay after u finish the game once! I was gonna say they are on the minimap but I think thats only during tutorial?

Im currently trying to find a fix for the DREADFUL flashing ORANGE animals after the camera-bino detects them.

WTH was the dev team thinking not giving menu options to turn this junk off!

Oh yeah, they are on the minimap. So it would be okay if you didn't have the it disabled.

I also agree with the stupid icons and tracking of enemies and animals after you look at them with the camera.

What I did that fixed ALL the annoyances was to use the .dlls that come with the Swartz mod:

http://farcry.nexusmods.com/mods/15/

I would suggest ONLY using the .dlls (back up your originals) until you have finished the game once. After that install the entire mod.

But the .dlls in this mod provide a one-stop fix for all annoyances! Works like a charm and gives the game so much more character...and risk!

Anyone found a tweak or mod that lets you increase the spawn-rate of the baddies and vehicles??

The islands are so.,..,empty

Only way is to use the 'Enemy retake the island mod' resets all the outposts with pirates but lets you keep all your weapons & loot etc.

Look through the thread for a mod, it's posted practically on every page because people are asking the same question.

If you cant make it out:

Christmas has been cancelled. Apparently you told Santa you've been nice this year. He has died from laughing.

Thanks mate, will go through the thread now :)

Far Cry 3 patch brings master difficulty and outpost resetting

Far Cry 3 will be getting an upcoming patch which will feature a new difficulty mode and the ability to reset outposts in the single-player campaign, along with numerous multiplayer tweaks.

When the patch is released--Ubisoft has not yet provided a date for it--players who've finished the game and conquered all the outposts will be given the "reset outposts" option from the gameplay options menu. Any incomplete side quests will also be reset, and the outpost will have to be retaken before these can be accessed.

The master difficulty will make the game's wildlife more aggressive and its pirates tougher. "Worse than malaria," says the description for master difficulty in the game's menus--perhaps that's a sly reference to Far Cry 2?
Ubisoft is also adding a few tweaks to the multiplayer side of the game, making it easier to give feedback on maps, creating a beta map playlist to allow creators a productive environment to test their creations, and introducing a "skip map" voting system.

I got Far Cry 3 delivered this morning but am not sure whether to install it or not.

I've been playing Just Cause 2 a lot recently and suspect this might be a bit too similar. I just can't see myself playing them both for any amount of time.

Are they very similar?

Prob yes. But Far Cry 3 will be 1000x better and was considered in some quarters to be game of the year last year.

Play something in between JC2 and FC3 like a rpg or a something totally different, then go back to FC3, for something fresh!

I'm currently playing Dishonoured, which I really think is good. Wait for it in the Steam sales but its very good.

I got this over the weekend.

Is there anyway to collect a mission and then do it later? I collected a hunting missions but then I couldn't set my current objective to the story mission to do that first.

Do I have to collect each mission before I do it, rather than stockpiling them as I go and then do them as I want?

Also the who leaving the area thing is annoying. If I want to flank the enemy I have to stay inside an invisible area to not fail the mission!

Your map in the bottom left corner should show either a yellow or light blue 'zone' that you have to stay in. I agree it is annoying and the area isn't big enough to allow you to circle a target and scope it out.

I'm not sure why they implemented this though? I can't think of any reason why they would!

One particularly annoying occasion had me hunting leopards with a flame thrower. After 5 minutes trying to track the last sodding cat down, I finally spotted the cheeky bugger happily strolling about well outside the zone. Tried putting an arrow in it to get it to come at me, but it just ran off. Needless to say I gave up at that point and restarted.

The mission zones really were a stupid idea.
