Geforce Titan rumours.

Had a bit of a chew over a Titan and basically decided the price needs to drop for me to commit. Now we know they are not a limited run I think it will, as very few will spend close to £900 on a GFX card.

If it was a one time special limited card I would definitely have picked one up :)

It is a one time special limited card. Not sure why you think it will be mainstream?

Cards like this seldom drop in price they simply stop making them. You might pick one up EOL for a bit cheaper but there's no point in them doing anything to the price as it has no competition.

I honestly think that no matter how perfect the drivers it will never out perform a 690.

Wait till Thursday ;) High res overclocked it will see off a 690, but alas I fall into the normal trap comparing a tweaked card to a stock one :D

I think it will be very close at high resolutions anyway ;)

I would frankly be amazed but hey, I'll reserve just a small piece of judgement.

Don't forget the 690 can be overclocked too.

Everything I have seen says to the contrary, originally Evga/Asus now everyone.. see if I can find the info :)

Pretty sure someone quoted earlier in this thread, that Nvidia had denied the limited stock.

I guess it will all depend on what you regard as limited.

Maybe there will be enough to supply every one but I doubt it. IIRC Gibbo posted earlier to say they would be incredibly scarce?

Doesn't matter any way. The target audience is about 1% of PC owners.

But you can't even order them yet? :p

Then I guess we'll have to see whether the reviews come before people can place orders.

I'm just seeing things how they are. All of the reviewers have them in their hands and connected to motherboards. A set of benchmarks would take a couple of hours yet they are being made to wait until Thursday.

Why?

When the 670 and 680 paper launched the reviews were out before you could even buy them.

there you go..

In terms of availability and pricing, it’s a somewhat mixed bag. An SRP of $999 puts TITAN well beyond the reach of most gamers and enthusiasts, but this isn’t a limited edition card which will only have a production run of 1,000 (we’re looking at you ARES II) so availability should be similar to that of the GTX 690. Just don’t cross your fingers hoping that every retailer will receive stock. While EVGA and ASUS are both supporting this launch in North America,

Apparently the famous ;) thread will be happening soon

I put myself in the "stupid" bracket when it comes to toys, but I don't know, maybe I just feel the price is unfair !
I've never had a problem paying twice as much for quality but....It's close to buying an Airline ticket and picking one up in the states as buying locally !!

It would be silly of nvidia to do a limited run as i assume they are stilling producing the full tesla version. With this in mind there are going to be plenty of failed chips which can then be sold as titans.

That's still limited. You're forgetting it has a seriously limited buying audience.

I didn't mean limited as in 1000 I meant that they won't be mass produced like something like a 670.

So we should belive your assumption, because you think it's based on a limited audience? I'm pretty sure the target audience is the same of the 690, thus they conclude the avability would most likely be the same.

Surely, it's not mass produced as a medi-high-end card as the 670.

It's not an assumption. It's based on facts. The Titan is a rebranded failed Tesla 20X. Cat has already explained how low the yields are on them.

So that makes it rather limited as yields are pretty terrible as it is.

The 690 is completely different as yields on the 680 were always quite good. I've never seen any availability problems with the 680 core, so there really isn't any reason for the 690 to be short in supply.

The 690 is very expensive which gives it a very limited audience which is why they haven't made a metric ton of them as they simply wouldn't sell.

So in summation I am not making assumptions I've just been reading posts properly and making informed decisions.
