Hello again everyone.

I will be bying one of these GPUs:Gigabyte 7850 HD or Asus 660 today and I can't make up my mind about it, since different websites claim that one is better than the other. I was hoping to get some reasonable replies on which one you think is better (considering the price difference) and why.

Thank you very much in advance.

I just want to know is performance improve in 660 is so much better (if any) that it is worth paying 40 quid more?

Hi there,

It depends which company you prefer. Both cards give roughly the same performance.
At that price point, the 7850 is the better deal,

To make things more interesting, for £10 to £20 more than the 660, you can get either a 7870 or a 7870XT which would perform much better than the 660 and 7850.

Just food for thought.

The 7850 overclocks quite a bit better than the 660 and in turn becomes faster. A 660 was only a good buy when they were down at £150 - £160 for a while, now they cost the same as a 7870 at £179 which is significantly better.

The 660 is faster so if the price is similar it is better vfm.
The 7850 though can be found - if you search enough - for much less. Bought mine for £110 delivered almost 4 months ago.

Doesn't look like it

It seems that you would have to oc a 7850 to 1200+ to compete with an oc'ed 660. How many 7850's can achieve this?

Most of them, 1200Mhz is not at all unusual, its not to difficult for it. And spoffle is right, you can ad a huge chunk of performance to that with later drivers.

here, your favorite reviewer? agrees with us on that, no 7850, but there is a 7870, which is not that much faster than the 7850, against a GTX 660TI.

Is that the 7870 beating the GTX 660TI? i think it is :D

Not sure how you can support that most of 7850 hit 1200MHz, but in the same way I can say that for 660's 1100 is much more easier.

As for the 7870 not being much faster than a 7850 what do you mean? How far do you have to oc a 7850 to achieve similar performance to a stock 7870?

You've just asked this question,

"How far do you have to oc a 7850 to achieve similar performance to a stock"

Yet you say,

"The 660 is faster so if the price is similar it is better vfm.

Lmao remind me on never take note of your posts if i ask for any help.
