and scales to match

The cooker is a very nice fit, looks good. I've just finished doing a kitchen for my mum and have left a space for a new cooker as hers is a 50cm. I didn't have time to go and measure the exact size of different cookers so just left a space of 60cm and am dreading when she finally buys a new one. If it doesn't fit .

The cooker is a terrible fit, what are you on about?!! Look at the gap in the last pic above, near the scales.

Imagine all the dirt/germs/food that will get stuck down there.

Amazing progress though, wish I could decorate my place up so fast.

tbh the cooker is not meant to be a perfect flush fit, its an appliance that may be changed over the years etc so you leave a standard size gap and anything fits

lucky if theres 3/4 mm each side tbh which in my eyes is a pretty neat fit

To say the cooker wasn't there when he fit the worktops its good. You can always run a microfiber cloth along the slight gap to remove any dirt over time.

doesn't time fly when your having fun,

nearly 2 years we've been in this house now.

AND I finally got a start on the garden :) :) :)

it looked like this when we moved in

and finally its cleared hurrah. and looking like this

IMG_0937_zps8e7d6ffb.jpg

still obviously nowhere near finished but its cleared thank god. new fences to go up over the coming months when and if I find time, and a 8x6 shed down at the bottom right of the garden. hopefully going to separate the bottom of the garden (just in front of that tree stump that I still need to get rid of) and have the shed and kids swings down there with a path to the shed (couple of flag stones and some form of bark for under the kids swings) then ideally i'll get the garden leveled a bit and something approaching a lawn

some more work to come in the house as well this year, hopefully get rid of that gof awful artex in the living room that is pictured in the early posts of this thread but again that's a shed load of work

I was wondering who had bumped this after 18 months of no updates :p Thread title is now wrong too!

The artex was on your list ages ago, what has stopped you from doing it?

serious lack of time and finding out it was full of asbestos.

going to be a pricey job getting it removed professionaly, other option we're looking at is just boarding over the artex and then a quick skim over plasterboard.

determined to have it finished this year though :)

and yes thread title is now well out of date, perhaps a passing mod could amend please?

started this weekends project yesterday and it was finished today :)

started with this rickety old fence

how have a fancy new one :)

IMG_0938_zpsf97ba092.jpg

well not fancy but its functional and it does the job lot of ruddy work though and I've still got the bottom and the other side to do but that can wait a few weeks

Decided to rip the house to bits again

Skirting and doors all coming off to be replaced once the walls are plastered

Going to open up the boxed in wall in the living room and shelf it for av goodies

Also ordered a new suite shoul be here in 12 weeks so I need to get the finger out

You lost a lot of privacy pulling down those bushes and tree at the end of the garden. Are you going to have something else planted?

There's houses being built there as we speak :)

Along with a new fence it won't be too bad

Going to keep updating thread and get the house back on track

Finished for the day need to go to work :(

More updates tommorow hopefully at least get the bulk of the plastering out the way

plan of attack is,

plasterwork,
sort out the now opened up wall(box in lower section and shelf the rest(undecided whether to go for plain oak or get some glass shelves cut to size
channel wall for hdmi/etherweb cables etc for tv (rest is going to be run behind skirtings)
paint/paper
line the door frame and fit some oak architrave.
new oak skirtings and door.
new sofa due to arrive circa 10/11 weeks
sit back enjoy the new living room with a cold one and get moaned at for not starting the bathroom :)

Didn't see this thread before, nice job m8. My only negatives would be the choice of wallpapers and the underlay you used with the laminate flooring, should have used the fiber board it makes the floors way quieter.

keep the piccies coming :)

finally livingroom and hall plasterwork nearing an end.

walls all plastered and tv temporarily mounted so I can measure up for channeling for cables etc.

its been a long ruddy week getting this finished alongside working at the same time. I need a hollibob

from earlier on in the week, that's a heavy undercoat then a final skim over the top

hall all done as well

all in all 300kg of plaster has went up on these walls and ceilings in less than a week

and a ghetto lashup as a temporary measure

to do list for the next couple of weeks,

line the now opened up cupboard in preparation for some new shelves.

new skirting and doors
channel the wall for cabling up to tv and run speaker wire round behind where the skirtings are going
throw some pva/paint on the walls and paper the tv wall

also plan on picking up new faceplates for the sockets this week too, brushed aliminium or polished hmmm choices choices. screwfix have an offer on just now 5 for 30 for the doubles so can do switches blanks and sockets for under £50 unless anyone can recommend a better option?
