Decent pair of cheap earphones

I'm looking for a well-built pair of earphones with good quality bass, that will still deliver a crisp sound (not sure if that's the correct term, e.g. vocals won't be muffled). So far, I've found the 'MEElectronics M9P' which seem like they'd do the job, but they don't exactly look great, do they?

I've looked at a couple of pair of Sennheiser earphones, but the reviews suggest they're not very durable. As the title states, I'm not looking to spend too much (less than £22 if possible).

Any recommendations?

Sony MDR-E 818 LP earphones. Been using them for about ten years. Have tried others, none come close to these.

Me and few mates have these bought from Richer Sounds for the price on the page. They are very very good IMO and normally retail at £20-30

Edit: Argos are pricing them at £34.99!

Just looked them up now, are they comfortable? For some reason, they don't appear like they are.

Thanks. Well within budget, although I'm not keen on that gold looking logo. Just to double check, they offer a good amount of bass without compromising the crispness of the song? Also, what's the sound leakage like with these?

Very good bass for the price IMO. Leakage is about average for inner ear phones, but I always think that it depends on the size of the buds you use. If you wear the tightest fitting ones you get very little leakage anyway

In my head tho, for a tenner, you cant go wrong. I wasn't keen on the gold but my other headphones had just broke so I wasn't choosy...very happy now :)

Edit: FYI I use them on my iPod with 'Bass Amplified' in the settings and Bass Cannon (Flux Pavillion) sounds MINT!! :p

The Jays One's are also pretty good from Richer Sounds.

My main question is do you want good quality bass (ie accurate) or do you want overblown bass that many headphones aim for?

Yeah £10 does seem a good price :) I think I'd aim for the tightest fitting buds, as apparently this can help to 'enhance' the bass. I'm definitely going to bear the earphones you've suggest in mind.

If you've ever used the free iPhone earphones, you may have noticed that unless you push them quite deeply into your ears, you won't get much bass. But even then, the earphones eventually become loose and you're back to not hearing much bass. This is my predicament and is why I'm looking for some earphones that offer a good amount of bass.

So to answer your question, I suppose I'm looking for good quality bass... not bass that causes the 'rattling' effect, or whatever it's called.

I had the Sennheiser CX300II for 3 years before the wire broke, I bought another pair and they've lasted 2 years so far but since retired them to back up and have the SoundMAGIC E10's now. They are above your budget but amazing for the price ~£35.

Edit: I didn't realise the CX300II are so expensive now! I'm sure I paid <£15 for mine from Amazon

Not sure I could deal with those Sony's even with the cheap cost.

Still like my JVC HA-FXC51 headphones. £16 to £20. Been very impressed with them.

These RHAs can be had and well within your budget. Been using them for 6 months, excellent pair of earbuds

Just been reading reviews of these, and I must say, they do sound (har har) promising... :) But in all seriousness, they seem to tick all the boxes - apart from being slightly over budget of course (after Googling, £25 seemed the lowest price around), however, they do have a 3 year warranty which is great so I'm willing to accept a slightly higher price.

I'm beginning to lean towards these RHAs over the other suggested products because of:
Good amount of bass, without sacrificing crispness
Well-built
Sound isolation
3 year warranty
Look stylish (in my opinion)
Only a few quid over budget

EDIT:
Thanks to the mod for moving this thread. Completely forgot about sound city, looked at the 'Music, Box Office, TV & Books' section and thought it wouldn't fit in, so posted to GD.
