Planescape Torment 2

Torment: Tides of Numenera™ continues the thematic legacy of the critically acclaimed Planescape: Torment™. Set in Monte Cook's new tabletop role-playing world, Numenera™, the newest Torment asks: What does one life matter?

Numenera's Ninth World is a fantastic vision of a world in which massive civilizations have risen and fallen - disappeared, transcended, overwhelmed, or destroyed - and left their cities, monuments, and artifacts behind. As each rose and fell, their achievements became part of the accumulated detritus of eons... but much of it did not decay. And now this assortment of ancient power is there for the taking, ever-present, underfoot. The humans of the Ninth World take and use what they can. They call these wonders (and horrors) the numenera.

One of these humans discovers a way to use the numenera to grow strong, to cheat death, to skip across the face of centuries in a succession of bodies. But he discovers an unexpected side effect: You.

Torment™ is a game of complex and nuanced morality, deep and reactive choice and consequence, and immersion into a new and strange vision. You will chart a course through bizarre dimensions, across the face of a vastly different world. You will earn companions along the way, and discover their value - perhaps through their strengths, perhaps more literally by selling them. Throughout it all, you will choose a path that will lead inexorably to an ending that stems naturally from your actions, facing adversaries who harness powers beyond your comprehension, and who will ultimately force you to face yourself and answer the question: What does one life matter?

Not sure how it is supposed to be planescape torment 2 if its set in a completely different rpg universe AND none of the original development team is on board? (yet?)

Maybe they will get Obsidian involved?

Title is a little misleading, but as explained here http://www.incgamers.com/2013/02/inxiles-torment-sequel-gains-a-proper-name-and-its-own-site/:

Brian Fargo and his inXile team are of course in the midst of developing Wasteland 2, but you may also recall that the team is lining up a sequel (well, really more of a ‘spiritual follow-up’) to Planescape: Torment. The Planescape license isn’t being used, so instead inXile are setting the game in the brand new ‘Numenera’ universe, recently designed and Kickstarted by Monte Cook.

Cook has previously worked as a designer and writer for expansions of the original pen and paper Planescape, so he knows his stuff. Colin McComb, a lead designer and co-writer on the original Planescape: Torment is involved too, and Chris Avellone has given his best wishes to the continuation of the Torment saga (though probably isn’t contributing any writing himself.)

So, that’s the backstory. The latest is that the game now has a name: Torment: Tides of Numenera and a fancy-pants website, upon which the title is described as “a game of complex and nuanced morality, deep and reactive choice and consequence, and immersion into a new and strange vision.”

While the original game famously explored the question “What can change the nature of a man?,” this follow-up will deal with the puzzle “What does one life matter?”

All signs point to another crowd-funding push for this game, but that’ll almost certainly be held off until Wasteland 2 is out of the door.

Eeek could be good!

Kickstarter is up http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/torment-tides-of-numenera

Sounds decent but I'm not too sure about doing a second kickstarter before your first is finished, seems a bit dodgy to me.

Looks like it will easily get funded within a day or two.

Decided to back the $45 tier to get both games since I never bothered backing Wasteland 2. Hope both get made and are decent :) Looking forward to Project Eternity more though.

4 days left* to 'pledge' ie pre-order PT2 at £19. I should have got them whilst they were $45. £41.68 ($65) now for the pair.

*Edit: Hmm, have they changed the wording in the last 24 hours? Yesterday there was clear text stating it was the last chance to get the game at the $30 price. Now the wording is more vague and I can't find that statement again.
