Well, thinking, before I go rolling road and track day with you guys, might treat Roxy to a full major service. Reason being is, since owning the car, not sure really how old all the leads and plugs etc are... so, rather than take a chance, think I'll chuck some money at her. Anyone add anything to the list below?

  • Mazda RX8 - BC Racing Coilovers - Type RS - £750 Inc VAT
  • Mazda RX8 - Genuine Mazda Spark Plugs + Genuine Mazda Coil Packs + NGK Silicone Ignition Wires - £366 inc VAT
    • 4 x Genuine Mazda RX8 coil packs - Latest revision from Mazda to combat problems with early coil design
    • 4 x NGK Silicone blue ignition coil leads
    • 2 x Genuine Mazda RX8 leading spark plugs (RE7C-L) NGK Laser iridium
    • Warmer heat grade 7 as used by Mazda to improve ignition failure
    • 2 x Genuine Mazda RX8 trailing spark plugs (RE9B-T) NGK Laser iridium
  • Mobil Super Fe 5W-30 Semi Synthetic 5 Litre - £35.98 inc VAT

  • K&N OIL FILTER - £12.50 inc VAT

  • ATE Super Blue Racing Brake Fluid 1ltr £13.58 inc VAT

  • HEL BRAIDED BRAKE LINE HOSE KITS - Performance Brake Line Kit - £65 inc VAT
Can't really think of anything else to get really? Pads and discs are in top condition..., already got a K&N Air Panel Filter, anyone think of anything else?

I'd not bother with the coil packs unless it's showing any problems and the fancy ignition leads are probably a complete waste of money. Also before buying coil overs decide what you actually want to achieve.

As above decide what you actually want from the car first as coilovers are not cheap!
However if you do decide to go with them I would suggest that the price you have there for the basic rubber top mount front & rear BC's is pretty poor.

If you want to start attending trackdays and the like or use the car often I would recommend the BC BR Type RH series which has adjustable 30 click pillowball front and rear dampning which by a quick google comes out at 750+vat also.

Surely an HKS twinpower would be a better option if you're having ignition problems? Personally i would forget coilovers and fancy breaklines unless you're racing it round a track every weekend. I would concentrate on making it more reliable engine wise and run cooler. Do you premix or do you still have the cat in place?

Personally i would take a look at the coil packs before changing, if when you take them off there is a large white spot on them then they need changing. If they haven't, then don't!

I'd not use K&N oil filter, buy the Mazda OE filter for your car.

Some uprated pads like DS2500, EBC yellow/blue etc.

Okay guys. To clarify, I want to change all the coils/sparks and leads because I've got NO receipts saying it's been done, ok the sparks will have... either way, I want it A1 as opposed to waiting for something to go then replace it. I have the money so all that lot will be replaced as standard. That way I know exactly what is on the car.

I'm open to advice with the oil, just wanted a top quality oil for when I track it that's all... however, come forth with cheaper quality options.

As for the coilovers, I've been fancying a set for a while and one of my current dampers is warn so, rather than replace with standard, may as well do it all and get a nice fresh setup. Plus I want to be able to adjust the height as well and not just do this by lowered springs on old dampers. Also, I want to get back into some track days (both on the bike and car), and I feel there's a little too much roll currently in the standard setup. Whether that's warn components, not sure...

As for premix, nope, don't do it and it does have the standard cat on. Was going to uprate the catback exhausts at some point with a new one to give it more meat, but that's all the plan was.

The only thing hanging over me at the moment as for a big expense is, a super charger that I've enquired about and is tempting... just waiting on a response from the seller about it. Whoever you speak to and whatever forum you go on, you get mixed power outputs all the time... and a lot of bull spouted as well. Before splashing out serious money would like to test drive one first.

As for discs and pads. Discs are cross drilled and grooved MTEC discs but the pads are bog standard... yeah good point... think a nice set of EBC jobbies would be prudent.

Only reason wanted K&N filter is it'll match the air filter (or that this makes any difference lol). I've used a lot of K&N over the years and kinda just like what I like.

I you only do one thing then upgrade the pads. First trackday I did was sharing with shoes BMW at Donington. It had standard type pads on it and no exaggeration we completely destroyed them in 60 minutes of track time. I mean there was nothing left, we had to dash to a local parts shop and buy new pads in order to continue.

EBC yellow are cheap for a reason, they can't withstand an awful lot of punishment, and when they get hot the pedal goes all spongy and long. I will most likely replace mine with DS2500, I keep hearing they are much better.

Don't think you can get the DS2500's for the RX8... :(

DS2500 here on my ep3,no fade and perfect when matched with braided lines.
May be best to ask on the vehicle specific forum what pads would be equivalent if the ferodo pad is not available for your car.
