Driving long distance

I can drive for 8 hours and hundreds of miles perfectly comfortably but even after 2 hours as a passenger I start to get really restless. Don't so anything different to what I'd do normally Tbh, company really helps

Just go as fast as possible that'll keep you awake.

I do Gatwick to Manchester 10 times a year I just put the hammer down and crack on m40 can be overcome quite quickly

Strict limits on the m6 toll though

I get bored and irritable if I poodle along, I'm getting 30 / 32 mpg hammer down and 35 / 36 if I try hard and feel like I've had a lobotomy, points are an occupational hazard.

Tbh m25 m40 m42 m6 t and m6 there's too much traffic to really wind it up unless it's 2am.

When i was in the Army based in Germany i used to drive from Soltau ( near Hannover ) to Newcastle 3 or 4 times a year, around 850miles and a good 12 - 14hrs including ferry crossing. On occations i did have to pull over and grab a few hours sleep but most of the time plenty of rest stops / breaks made it ok.

I go back home to Scotland a few times a year and aside from getting out of London initially it's not all that bad normally, I'll usually stop once or twice for a rest break and to stretch my legs a bit. I might need petrol as well although if I start with a full tank I can usually make it on one tank. Assuming I don't have a passenger to talk to then I'll be listening to music and that is fine to keep me going - it's never going to be particularly exciting as a trip but if you do find yourself getting tired then use your judgement but it's probably better to stop than risk it.

Good music to keep me from getting too bored, that's about it. And a bottle of water. I don't have any issues with comfort.

I like to play a game called 'changing lanes without running over a cat's eye' as well. It's quite rewarding.

I play that game :D. Or sometimes I do the opposite and pretend I'm cleaning the cats eyes with my tyres :p this is when boredom has well and truly kicked in

I drive from Warwickshire to Glasgow regularly which is anywhere between 4 and 6 hours depending on traffic. My best advice would be that as soon as you get tired, stop. Some people get tired driving, some don't - it's just one of those things, and any number of factors can affect it. Pull in at a services, neck a can of the Bull, have a Mars bar and a wander round, have a 15 minute power nap if you need to.

Generally I make one stop myself - McDonalds at either Sandbach services or J44 Carlisle - depends on how I'm feeling and what time I go up. I seem to stop more on daytime journeys than night drives.

Usually hit VTEC and arrive before I've left. I pity you peasants with your normal cars :p

Have some water with you, new music, keep yourself occupied with little games. It's all fairly easy, but in the end if you need to stop and have a break, just do it!

I do York to Aberdeen regularly. Get in and drive, climate control on, radio, arrive at destination and park up. 6-7 hour drive depending on traffic.

I've got up early drove 5 hours to Glasgow loaded a van up with some Yanky Professors possessions drove back down with him & his cat in the cab with me unloaded him & drove off at 2pm. :p
Yanky Dude was well impressed to be in his new flat by 2pm & couldn't stop his Yanky jibber jabber telling me how pleased he was so I drove off whilst he was still going on. :D

A 4 hour trip in a motor is nowt, If you are worried just stop after 2 hours & get some food & drink in you.

Podcasts, audio books, giving fellow Stobart drivers rude gestures, trying to see what the left hand drive trucker is watching on his laptop and / or trying to figure out what he's cooking (I see this regularly!!) the change lane without hitting a cats eye game is fun with six axles......

In a nutshell, if your feeling tired, stop, take a catnap, walk about a bit & continue...
