I've just been given an MSI 760GM-P23 FX motherboard with an fx-4100 in it and wanted to throw together a cheap system that will be able to game at high(ish) settings at the above resolution. Ive seen 6670 cards for fairly good value and was wondering if this was the best choice or if there was something slightly cheaper and just as effective?
Any help appreciated
 
The GTX 650 sits in between 7750 and 7770 price and performance wise, so would be another option. I'd look at seeing what you can get a 6850 for though as it's better than all of those and might not cost much more.

Gigabyte HD 7770 OC. Overclocks well for a cheap card. Has a good, quiet cooling solution. Works with mod version of saphire trixx allowing for extreme voltage boost up to 1.35v. (stock 1.2v)
