Far Cry 3 Thread

Help I keep getting pwned by snipers in Far Cry 3 :(

Im gettin really

I keep getting uttery and totally pwned by the pirate snipers in this game. And as you know those sniper rounds are so powerful.

I clear a camp to say 90% feeling very pleased and then POW

Re-start all over again. What tactics do you need to use to defeat those bozos. Also the AI sniping I feel is a bit TOO good. They get me bullseye when Im ducking and weaving and everything. Whatever

I always found the right combination of tracking from a long distance marking everyone, learning their patterns works.

The snipers are very often on their own, sat up top where their bodies can't be spotted. Take them out with a shot to the head.

Take out the alarms with your rifle if you can, then move in with the knowledge to take everyone out with silencers.

I really like the sniper AI - They are using very high powered rifles, they can kill you in 2 shots easily, sometimes 1. If you don't take the precautions you can expect a warm welcome.

I take it you're playing on the hardest difficulty?

Ahh cool thanks for the tips mate, no Im not on the hardest Im on the middle one (forgot what it is now lol) Its the one below the hardest. And thats right sometimes I get pwned really quick sometimes by two rounds fired rapidly.

I still need to master creeping up on them undetected. Some camps have better enemies than others...or am I imagining things?

I'll use the binos more from now on to figure out where the snipers are standing and wax them first before anyone else. They cause me the most problems.

I forgot to mention that I have a tweaked .dll installed that has disabled all aids from the HUD - no noise meter & no tagging for example. It has also removed the (annnoying) laser beams from enemy snipers. Using this .dll tweak adds SO much more tension to this game im shocked they didnt give you the option to turn it all off from the in-game menu.

Never died once from them, i've always popped them first, and make it a priority to get a Sniper Rifle.

I think there was only one or two missions where snipers gave me problems, key thing I think is knowing where they are and then move accordingly i.e. never expose yourself to multiple snipers at once and move around in cover using silenced weapons. Get back into cover if one of them gets a bead on you.

You talk about 'ducking and weaving' but if you let them spot you then you've already lost half the battle. Most of the time you should be putting them down before they even know you are there, although perhaps this .dll complicates thins.

Ouch, no wonder you're finding them difficult. Under those conditions I'd suggest scanning the high points of the camp until you think you've found all the snipers and them shoot them with whatever your favourite silenced sniper rifle happens to be.

Yep, things get more challenging on the later camps, but I usually find any camp with dogs to be the worst.

Yeah snipe the snipers first then alarms shouldn't be a problem then.

For a laugh i used the grenade launcher and wiped out an outpost 2 shots haha.:D

don't have to snipe the snipers or anybody tbh, just snipe the alarm boxes themselves, don't get alarms if the box don't work :)

take out the animals cage locks etc, so releases them and gives guards something to do and not watch you shoot the boxes etc, of just got for alarm boxes themselves, either way it's easy from distance with a good sniper rifle with a silencer on it and good scope from a hidden place etc, any cover is better than none....

This tbh.

I wait for the enemies to move away and then snipe using a silenced sniper rifle. In fact, everything I have is silenced. I like taking down entire camps without them getting a shot off. It adds more points haha

Once you get far enough, there is a cripplingly loud sniper rifle that needs a silencer otherwise you'll be heard by Monkey Island next door haha

Note to self: get silencer for Sniper rifle.. :)

Sounds the best way to do it..

I've been hiding behind tree's, liuring one guard out at a time and using the Hitman Tactic (silenced pistol to the face!)..

Not Pretty, Not effective. :)

I like doing this. Of course I always miss an alarm and just when I think everything is going well, along come reinforcements!:(

There's a signature sniper weapon with explosive bullets. I tried it on a Wanted Dead challenge only to get killed. Couldn't work out how they knew where I was. Until I realised the sniper rifle didn't have a silencer. :D:o

WTF? I never knew you could shoot the boxes? I always try and sneak up to them to turn them off!?!

Are most people playing with standard settings, or are you turning off the on screen indicators, etc?

Are many using mods to make it even harder?

Have you got a screenshot you can show us? Are you running the game through Steam?
