Hey guys,

Looking to upgrade my rig from a 450 to a 660 Ti, just looking around and trying to get some ideas on the best brands to go with.

Getting a 660 Ti as I've wanted a X60 Ti since I built it, and Nvidia's F2P deal has got me close enough to buying one.

My personal favouritism leans towards ASUS/MSI, with the ASUS DirectCU II and MSI Power Edition being the contenders. But I'm just looking for ideas, suggestions, experience etc with any and all brands of 660 Ti.

Also if you want to suggest a place to buy them from, that's welcome too, although I'll likely be trying to get one @ iSeries, maybe from my friends at Overclockers along with some random Haribo ;)

I had the 660ti since release date and had the msi power edition one and it was great always overclocked high for a 660ti and played nearly every game max setting 1080p.

I know the asus/msi/gigabyte 660ti's seem to do the best in benchmarks and have the best coolers and warranties so I would stick to them brands.

If you have that sort of money to spend on a card then I would look at the 7970 as it's about the same price and faster than a 680

Would make sense, but I'm an Nvidia fanboi and with the £100 F2P deal I should be able to sell to make up the difference as far as price goes (or save me buying a gift if my friend that wanted it chickens out lol)
Also by same price, you mean £100 more right? :p

Gigabyte / MSI / KFA2 / EVGA are the best.

I haven't heard anything bad about Zotac either.

I've had pretty good experience of Zotac, but they seem like more of a value brand than a performance brand

7970 are regularly going for under £300 with decent cooler and selling bioshock and crysis would get you £30 back.

This is what I'm going for anyway :)

If I was buying another 660ti I would get the msi twin frozr again mine was scoring 9000 points on 3dmark11 at stock and 10000 overclocked.

Well with Bioshock infinite pre-orders I doubt you'll be able to sell it very easily, and Crysis, for me at least, has always been a game where if you want it you've got it.

Also the Ti is based on getting AC3 + £100 F2P codes, so its already far discounted below the £230ish price

For an update to the thread's purpose, I'm swinging more and more towards the ASUS 660 Ti OC (Mid range)

I sell 7970 GHz edition in "most known auction site", auction ends tomorrow, so far price is 175 pounds - so you might consider to give a try :-D

The asus are supposed to be the quietest fans out of all the 660ti and my friends one got 10250 points on 3dmark11 after he updated bios. So I can definetely reccommend that one.

Out of interest roughly how much does the £100 ftp code sell for?

The only games that I found the 660ti struggle on were gta4 and crysis 3 and both were playable but would have prevered more frames. Every other game was 1080p max settings really good framerate.

Oh by the way on OCUK forum you can't link to prices on other sites if not they ban you!

The £100 codes are going for decent amounts on the US side of ebay, on UK its near enough impossible to tell, but its Hawken + WoT + Planetside, £33 each so you can put your own value on it, if I'm lucky I'm hoping to get £50 for it but it all depends who I can find

And only reason I linked to it on Amazon was because I'm using pc parts picker as an easy way to grab prices, OcUK should really get them selves on that :p

In the interest of keeping the gods of the banhammer happy: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-283-AS but I can't promise I'll always link to them, its so hard to track the different models through ocuk :(

I'd be so cautious of buying a 660ti right now, it feels like we're on the verge of new gaming cards arriving and with the dawn of new consoles officially here I'd want to wait for the next series of cards to assure the console ports I play are going to run smooth

I was going to do that, but I already bought the PC on the 5xx-6xx transition with the promise of getting myself a 660 Ti when they came out, and I've only finally got the cash together to do that >.<

Personally, I own the KFA2 card, I was mightily impressed by how quiet it was, then I saw the tests and found that it was (from memory) something like 25% quieter, or more, than the competition, so if that is something you care about, that's the card for you.

Mine has also overclocked well, can't remember off the top of my head, but I seem to remember it sits around 1200MHz and is still super quiet.

I'm in the process of getting another for SLI now.
