Flying to Sydney, Emirates or Singapore Airlines?

Always liked singapore airlines
Are the flight times much different?
I will be flying sq next week, over past ten years their service has always seemed consistent and reliable.

Turns out Emirates are a bit cheaper as you can select your seats for free, 30 quid for each leg of the flight with Singapore.

Do Emirates Economy class seats have a power socket in them on the A380s?

EDIT: Looks like they do, Emirates it is then :)

OcUK, officially better than Google :p

I preferred Singapore airlines for Oz. I've done both and wasn't as pleased with Emirates. Had to get 2 singles, ~£700 out, nearly £1k back but it was because I wasn't coming back at a set time.

I've never flown with Singapore but have done quite a few long hauls with Emirates

They used to be really good but my last few flights with them have just been ok, the meals are nice and the in flight entertainment has lots of movies to choose from but I find the service not as good as it ised to be and some of the staff down right rude and more interested in their appearance than doing their jobs

It's a shame really as I used to enjoy flying with the but feel they are charging premium prices but not providing a premium service these days, or maybe I've just been unlucky.

Why would you say no to A380's?

As this is my first long haul flight, thats the main reason im choosing between the two haha :p

I was on an A380 3 weeks ago and tbh once you're in the air you could be on any other plane , the leg room didn't feel much different to the 777-300 I was on the previous flight

I'd fly Singapore. Changi airport is infinitely better than Dubai. The food on Singapore airlines is great as well

Haven't flown via Singapore but I flew with Emirates for the first time 3 months ago London > Dubai > Thailand and back, and loved the journey. Great entertainment, food and drinks.
