Guys, currently have a very packed shuttle, now the 7970 gets really rather hot and is limiting me from overclocking it.

Would an external water-cooling solution be possible? By which, I could modify the case to allow for the hoses to go in and out, and place a pump and res within a small box adjacent to the shuttle. Any idea's how I could power the pump? Can you get a main's powered pump?

Any idea's?

Yes, I probably should have bought a bigger case. I don't want to sell the Shuttle though, its lovely :p

to get coolant in/out

bulkhead fittings (oem, feser,,bitspower). you need a special drill bit called a Step Drill bit. It's a cone shape from a small diameter up to the required M20 size. Mine cost £30 so not cheap but chewed through the case panel easily, even with a cheapo crap drill.

you could have the pump and a tiny res inside the system surely? If not, you could feed a molex extension (bitfenix) out of the case somehow, or use an external psu (laptop style).

for rad the best option imo is an xspc AX rad + desk stand setup.

There are pci brackets that allow tubes to pass through without having to drill into the case.
Also koolance do a pci L bracket that has G1/4 fitttings.

I think Overclockers sells a bitspower version http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-014-BP&groupid=962&catid=1534&subcat=

Personally, don't start drilling into the case, make it awesome and beautiful inside the case and use a bracket to connect the rad external.
That way you could if you want pick up a frankly awesome/oversized rad that will last you through loads of builds. your choice really.

Thanks for the input guys. I would love to use the PCI bracket but I only have two PCI slots and the GPU is using them both! :)

As you can see, I don't have a DVD/CD drive in as I use an external USB drive. So I do have a little bit of room to play with above to maybe put a tiny pump and res if I can find two small enough, that way I would only need the rad external which would be fine.

Between 5-6cm (no tape measure to hand!). Something like that could work...the highest expense will be the gpu block from the looks of it.

Easy.

YOUR BASKET
1 x EK DCP 2.2 Pump (12v) £29.99
1 x XSPC Single 5.25” Bay Reservoir - Multi Fascia £24.98
1 x XSPC AX Radiator Desk Stand (Black) £18.98
1 x OcUK Value Bulkhead Fitting 16/13mm Barbed Fitting to 16/13mm Compression Fitting £2.88
Total : £86.74 (includes shipping : £8.25).

Bay res, pump is small enough to fit in the gap, and in that lovely large space along the top of the back panel, drill a couple of holes for some bulkhead fittings such as the ones shown.

Pump + res inside case, then connect your radiator outside on a nice stand.

May I suggest http://www.overclock.net/t/1203636/official-amd-ati-gpu-mod-club-aka-the-red-mod

You can get an Antec 620 for £48 through OCuk. Then cut 2 small C shape holes at the edge of one of the panels to allow the tubes to go through (They are non detachable as you know from your CPU cooler) then a small 80mm fan should be able to cool the rest of the card if you get some small copper heatsinks 10mm*10mm for Ram + VRMs

Ohh that is an interesting idea....thanks!! Gives me something to have a look at. Shame no one does a specific GPU one with better fixings. would have thought they would sell a lot.
