Currently on a q6600 at 3.2ghz, looking to boost my 3d performance in current games and possibly run some i cant run well now.

Games are Black Ops 2, TF2, CS:GO, Blacklight and Tribes Ascend.

I get 75-105 fps with most stuff turned down to lower settings in CS:GO if thats a good gauge of what me rig can do now ?

Used gtx47/80?

Outside of the used market I'm not sure how this gens cards in that bracket fair up, a 6870 should do well.

2nd Hand 6850 could also be an option at approx £70, and should be on par if not slightly faster than a 7770 (which on OcUK cheapest is £90 - and therefore slightly out of budget).

What resolution are you gaming at?

1920x1080p is my res, got a lovely 23 inch monitor last summer after my 1650x1080 samsung went bust and havent realy been able to test its beauty even on older games :)

My rig was bought here jan 2008 for £1500, and i have vista 32bit and 4gb ddr 2

Second hand 6850 or 6870 would be choice or a 460 1gb(non-eco model)/560 if you can get one in budget.

I had a nice step up from my trusty old 8800GT when I put in a 6850 :)

Before the GTX680 I had a Asus 6850 and it was a great card. Would really advise that for the price vs performance. No you wont be able to run crysis 3 on high etc but it will run other games well, even BF3.

Would a gtx 650 provide a good boost?

Wouldn't waste your time with a GTX650, you can get a 470 (second hand ofc) for roughly the same price and performs better, however might be hard to find one but it is possible.

However anything in the 7xxx AMD series or Nvidia 5/6xx series is just going to bottleneck from a Q6600, 7770 being the exception since it is an extry level card.

560ti would make a huge difference even if you suffer a bit of cpu bottlenecking.

Found a second hand 560ti for £100 delivered on another forum site.
