There you go. If that doesn't work then maybe creating a course on something like bikeroutetoaster will. You can set the average speed etc which means that the virtual partner will work. Maybe it means it'll upload as a route if you download as gpx. I dunno.

Edit: Just tried uploading the gpx I downloaded from your link to strava to test. It failed. :(

Have you looked on the filesystem of the garmin itself? Is the activity missing completely or is strava just not seeing it?

It's missing completely unfortunately. I tried a file recover utility and it found nothing. My Garmin did reset itself midway through the ride but I turned it back on and it carried on where it left off, and it was fine at the end. Don't know what happened after that.

Done 35 miles yesterday, it should have been a breeze but it was without doubt the hardest ride ever, -14c wind chill, totally frozen after 20 miles. Bonked at 25. Ive never had that before but it felt like i had absolutely no power in my legs, usually on the flat i can lay down a good pace but i couldn't even get over 18mph after the first 20 miles, disappointing but these things happen, glad i carried on tho.

As I'm only allowed one bike at a time and I'm going to need something that can handle some light off roading I'm looking at picking up a cyclocross bike (and spare set of wheels with some road tires). Specifically I'm looking at the Cannondale CAADX, and between the Sora and Tiagra equipped versions. As Sora has been upgraded in 2013 to proper dual triggers that negates one of my previous key reasons for going for the Tiagra, apart from the weight savings (and 9spd vs 10spd) can anyone give me some reasons why I might want to pick the Tiagra over the Sora?

Just bought a pair of these rims, I'll let you know what they're like in terms of build quality when they arrive. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271149803577

I've ordered them in 24/28 hole drilling (due to my size) and with the 3k Matt finish - hopefully have them early to mid March time.

Gonna build them up with Sapim CX Ray spokes and Hope Pro3 Mono hubs so should come in at 1400g ish and be plenty strong enough due to the spoke count.

sold my tiagra equiped Forme to buy a Sora equiped cross bike

if your budget allows definetly go for Tiagra, runs MUCH quiter, and far smoother shifts on flat and under load

Is your budget really maxed at the CAADX? For a do everything, all weather bike, I'd want 105 or sram rival or campag equiv, the one time i used tiagra it stressed me out

but then i was used to ultegra

Just got my Shimano R088 shoes through the post. Biggest size available, 52 wide, and thankfully they fit absolutely perfectly :D

Can't wait to get out later in the week.

I picked up my fixie from Planet X on Saturday, slightly nervous taking it out, hopefully it'll seem perfectly natural when I'm out on it.

I also had a bike fit on my Giant Defy, put some Time iClic 2 carbon pedals on to use my new Lake road shoes. I fully anticpate toppling over as the clip in and out mechanism is a lot stiffer than I'm used to with my SPD's. I will probably fall over in comedy fashion on the massive cleats.

My current (old) road bike is running Shimano 600, although no idea how that compares to what is out now. But budget wise £900ish is it, of the options in that area the CAADX looked the best, more than open to suggestions though.

It wont :p

Not at first anyway.
getting clipped in is difficult as the pedal is always moving.
Going down hills is difficult, you cant really relax and let the cranks pull your legs around as you would expect.
Going round sharp corners is scary becuase you cant lift up your inside foot and it always feel like your going to hit a pedal off the ground.
You'll probably forget and try to freewheel a few times as well.

It's all good fun when you get the hang of it though :D

I'm collecting my new single-speed this Saturday. I chose not to go fixed as I really don't see any benefits (for me!).

Pics!

Anyone have any experience refurbishing carbon? I'm getting some slightly tatty SRAM shifters at a good price and was thinking of lightly sanding down the levers and applying a new satin clearcoat. Any potential issues to be aware of?
