Are next gen highend GPU's going be priced like the Titan ??

I have a 7950 & 7970 both running 1100/1600 which is the max of my 7950 and I cannot tell them apart in game at either 1080p or 1440p.

I woudn't expect you to be able to really. I'm sure the same goes for the 670+680. A small percentage up to 5-10% in most games is not going to be noticeable I'd imagine.

This, at 1080 I bet none of us would be able to tell much between AMD's or Nvidia's top offerings.

My reference to greg and the quote was in the same said post.

Yes but then he's already come back and said it isn't a VRAM run out as in performance would be otherwise OK if he wasn't running out of VRAM. That's completely different.

I'm wrong in a sense that i can't prove that 7970 CrossFire can play titles better than a 2GB card on a smaller memory bus, then again my proof counts as nothing.

The memory bus is a different limit to the actual VRAM amount. The VRAM amount is a hard limit wheras the memory bus is more a soft limit.

Dig out posts if you like, I'm in agreement that user data is the best bet but there was no BM thread in April/May so all there is to go on is review data-which has been posted and obviously ignored by some.

Turn it around then, if it was "even in April/May" why was it then slower a touch before 12.11 release? AMD driver performance regression? :D :D

What data did you use to purchase your 680?

I read about 15 reviews before committing such is my scepticism of review sites :D.

I/others don't see a problem with the methology, only yourself.

I don't think anybody else is reading. As I said, it just isn't an acceptable level of evidence to draw a conclusion from.

@matt, there is no chance my lazy 7950 is going in the BM thread, rusty would fall about laughing if I did due to it's poor results.:)

Ha ha is it a stinker? My second one is uber (GB WF 3x - what is it with my luck getting uber GB WF 3x ??).

I have rediscovered "The Beast" although it is still a bit puny compared to the original "The Beast". :(

1275/1700 and stable so far on the lad. I could go further but to be honest for 1920*1080 I run them both at 1100/1500.

we could run 1125/1575.

No chance can my 50 hit those clocks-1100/1400 stable that's it no more left in the tank no matter the voltage thrown at it- it was crazy cheap@£200 with the never settle bundle though so I can't complain.:D

Don't have the time to do much testing either at the moment or the foreseeable future, finding it hard enough to get time to actually play any games never mind bench.:(

I checked Heaven when I first got it and there was almost a 7% performance advantage, I imagine it will vary depending on the game used though.

@Rusty, it's cool, we won't agree at the end of the day, differing opinions and all.:)

I hope the mods don't come in and brandish the delete button as Rusty and myself kept it all civil and had an admitedly pedantic gentleman's debate, that's all it was.

:)

Indeed :D.

It's 1275 stable at 1.25V which is mightily impressive. Less than 1:1. No artifacts either

Can't get no more on the memory ('70 PCB memory is better IIRC)

Impressed rusty, as you said though CrossFire is mighty overkill@1080p so you can afford to be a bit less retlentless with the clocks, but I had no option to stop at 1100/1400MHz.

I'm happy to help with regard to benching a 7950 if this helps the cause?
My max clocks I can reach are 1240/1580 (gigabyte wf3) but could maybe go a little higher haven't really pushed any further.
So we could bench at the clocks u mentioned earlier what did u want to use?

Sounds good chris. We need to draw up a list of games/benchmarks to run.

Lets take it to the ocuk thread to try and get this particular topic back on course.
