Poundland Girl Wins Forced Labour Ruling

Not everyone has that luxury. I've applied for 10 maybe 15 jobs over the past week and do you know how many replies or interviews I've had, zero.

Even trying to chase up applications to find out where I am going wrong all I get is "we don't discuss applications over the phone" or "such a person is busy at the moment we will call you back" etc..

It's not as simple as just getting a minimum wage job, I would gladly work for minimum wage in whatever job I was offered.

Just riles me up when people whinge about "paying for people on benefits".

Dolph is privileged and doesn't understand some people are not, which means he thinks everyone can bootstraps themselves and that there are no excuses, its quite sad.

TBH, unless you've been job hunting in this climate for any amount of time it's hard to understand.

Back when I was looking for work I felt like neither my fiancé nor my family really believed me that I was actually trying. "Well, have you tried the papers?" etc.

Since then my dad has retired and had not a lot of luck finding something at a suitable level.
My now-wife has had no luck at all. Sometimes I remember how they talked to me and I feel a little bit like "Well, now you know". Terrible to say but there we go.

To be honest I find the whole "reducing" benefits if you happen to have an empty room disgusting.

yea wasn't their a story recently of a woman who lives with her son.
her son is in the army and when he got sent to afghanistan or wherever she had to pay bedroom tax lol.....

it's such a stupid tax when it doesn't take into account circumstance

one thing that does tickle me about all of these stories is how labour arnt saying much of anything on it, apart from talking about the future jobs fund and iv not heard any of them say anything about that since last year.

That's because they're all self serving swivel eye'd gits, regardless of the party they stand up and lie for.. I can't remember the last time I saw a MP from any party, were I thought "He/she is really switched on and doing the right thing for their constituents/country"

Dolph is privileged and doesn't understand some people are not, which means he thinks everyone can bootstraps themselves and that there are no excuses, its quite sad.

As they say, walk 10 miles in a mans shoes before trying to understand his situation.

I can see why people who've never lived on JSA make comments they do, just try it for a while when you can't afford to heat your house.

Guarantee you will break.

Sue Ryder Rolling Online Picket

Join an online, rolling picket of workfare exploiters Sue Ryder.
Starts: Now
Ends: When Sue Ryder pull out of all forms of workfare.

Since Sue Ryder became the first and only UK charity to admit they will use claimants on sickness and disability benefits as forced unpaid workers hundreds of people have contacted them to express disgust at their activities.

This followed the revelation that Sue Ryder are part of the Mandatory Work Activity scheme and also accepted free workers on the Community Action Programme. This is one of the nastiest workfare schemes which involves 720 hours forced unpaid work simply for being unemployed. This is over twice the maximum Community Service punishment which can be handed out by the Courts.

Sue Ryder are unrepentant about their use of mass workfare and have even boasted about how much money it makes them! They sought to justify this and them calling people forced into their shops as volunteers in a Question and Answer response to criticisms they received online.

We urgently need to keep up the pressure and ensure that Sue Ryder know exactly what the public think about forced unpaid work. Join the hundreds of people who have already said they will boycott the charity and send a message not just to Sue Ryder, but to any other charity considering the Government’s vile offer of forced free labour carried out by sick and disabled claimants.

Oh man, you've said things here that really hit home, someone who actually gets it, this is something I always wanted to say but could never get it right and you did it in a few sentences.
Personally i'd rather be in the gutter before being exploited, slavery must be fought and this Government must be stopped. I applaud you sir. ;)

No probs sir ;)

I read and digest every little bit of info i can and have done since i hit 21 and was in the dumps.Ive seen it all and been exploited and can see whats going on where as others have really no time to understand or comprehend just how messed up the whole system is.Yet everyone does nothing and sticks thier head in the sand.

Oh look the tories are at it again rawr rawr now wheres my coat as i gotta go and thats about as far as outrages go in this country. How about rawr rawr lets storm the houses of parliment or blockade the entraces until things like MP's getting £60,000 per year is brought into line with the rest of the wages offered to working class.

Dont suppose you have saw the plans for the new carbon limit as well? 90% cuts to carbon emissions in the UK alongside coal plants being closed now in the next few months.French EDF are going to fill the gap with two nuclear plants but are demanding the goverment guarantee them double the current market price for the next 40 years before they build anything.Benefits for a french nuclear firm yay and all of this is backed by the green lobby and most MP's including the scumbag Tim Yeo.

Meanwhile while our energy bills skyrocket (140% up since 2007) America is building even more coal powered plants. This and the banking bailout is the biggest daylight robbery i have ever heard of in history.literally trillions being gobbled up by fraud from the rich.

We will undertake a phased withdrawal from the scheme so as not to financially disadvantage any of our volunteers on this type of placement.

lol? If they are on the workscheme they do not get paid? How would it make any difference to them unless she is hinting that once they withdraw the DWP will cut benefits for anyone who was on the scheme?

Genuinely confused here...

I don't think Dolph is privileged I have always had the impression his family has had a rather tough time and his vitriolic is more to do with dragging everybody else through a bit of suffering to compensate for what he went through. I've always taken it more as a revenge on the rest of humanity for what he has had to endure kind of thing - you know like an emo-teenager.

Yep,

It's just most people are morons and don't educate themselves and keep moaning about benefits because their only source of information is the Sun saying how much benefits are crippling everyone.

BRB WAR IN IRAQ FOR NO REASON LULZ!!1

As Sue Ryder has now pulled out of the modern day slave labour trade it is important we continue to pressure those charities who continue to use forced labour.

Boycott workfare...
Our online rolling picket will continue to pressure other charities involved in workfare – The Salvation Army, YMCA, RSPCA, Papworth Trust, TCV and Barnardos all still need to pull out – let’s keep the pressure up as we move towards the week of action on 18th-24th March, where companies and public sector organisations using workfare will also be highlighted in actions against their involvement
