Alternative to Mediamonkey?

I've been using mediamonkey for a while now, and although its ok and has loads of features, it really needs more time spent on it than I have to get it to look really polished and slick.
Are there any decent alternatives out there? I'm open to sugestions and would be glad to hear of your experiences.

EDIT: I should add that my collection of 15,000 files is mostly flac and apple lossless, and it needs to be able downsample to my samsung phone

JRiver Media Centre, it's the best player I've ever used for music and films.

This! I used to use foobar which is decent but i just wanted something simple with no concerns about searching for extensions or skins. Small footprint and looks great!
