27" Monitor £300 Budget

So as the title says im looking for a new monitor its about time my old 2405 Dell retires, its still works fine but I fancy a slightly bigger screen for gaming on.

My budget is £300 and im going to be gaming on it most of the time with a little movie watching and office work. I play mostly shooters and RTS games, so what is my best choice at the moment?
 
I Currently have a MSI 6970 @ res of 1920 x 1200 so i understand most of the monitors in my price range will be a drop to 1920x 1080 but dont mind this too much. As I said above mostly playing FPS so BF3 and COD but also RTS games like COH and SC2.

I've had a benq monitor (24") and must agree with robin,they are really nice monitors for the money.

Well worth a shot at that kind of money,or if your lucky you could get a dell 27" 2nd hand for your budget.

Thanks I was not really posting for spelling advice but if you had read my original post you would notice I actually spelt it correctly in there. Did you actually have any advice on a monitor?

robin66. Thanks for the advice im heading off now to spend some time reading up on whats avalible, im a fussy git so this site could be very helpful on first look.

Hey schizo does B grade mean it no longer has a warrenty or is it just something that someone may have returned under distant seller agreement?

Seriously, wait til you have another £100 and get the Dell u2713hm. I went from a £350 Hazro to this and its head and shoulders above it. Plus the warranty is none existant with the budget ones and that was proven when mine caved after 13 month. Dell warranty is second to none for me and offers a massive piece of mind for 3 years. To give you an idea about the budget monitors I asked a manager of a massive online store (cant say which one as I am not sure he would approve....) which would be a better option-DGM or Hazro and he told me both were poor build quality and not to bother knowing i could not afford the Dell or a better one. That says it all for me. Just hold out a bit longer or sell something to raise the difference.
 
loving my 27inch dgm was a right hassle getting a rma code from ocuk and it could die at any moment so wouldnt recommend a B grade
i would save up and buy the dell if i could undo my purchase
rather deal with dell direct than have to go through ocuk and its lying call centre staff
no joking one lied to me and when reported they had no follow through or even a apology
so save up and buy the dell

Out of interest, is there a benefit to a 27" over a 24" apart from the size as the resolution appears to be the same.

You kinda answered your own question there :P if you were comparing specific monitors, you would get a better answer; for example if it was a Dell U2410 vs a BenQ GW2750HM, unless you wanted a larger screen specifically, then the dell would be the better choice due for a number of reasons.

i guess the main comparison you would want is the obvious -at the same resolution, 27 is larger than 24, at the cost of pixel density. the rest is down to the type of panel and available inputs etc...

Yeah but his point is 27" is no good unless its 1400p as the pixels are just to big at 1080p. For me PC graphics are about the sharpness and the detail you can get and 1080p above 23" loses a lot of that. But yrs you are right, I am having to run an i7 abd 7970 crossfire just to run decent framerates at 1400p
