I am looking to upgrade and use possibly the PSU, GFX and HDD from the system below but if i need addional hardware then so be it. I want to use this upgraded system to play games on MAX settings and to be suitable for the next 3-5 years if possible.

I currently have:

Motherboard: Intel DP45SG
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU, Q9550 @ 2.83GHz
Memory: 8Gb PC3-8500F (533 MHz) (4x2Gb sticks)
Graphcs: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti
OCZ ModXStream Pro 600w modular PSU
HDD: 240Gb Intel 520 SSD + Hitachi 2TB SATA
Case: Generic ATX

I'm looking to spend about £500 on the core components. (possibly a little more if needed)

Thanks for your help!

The PSU and HDD are fine. Something like this would be better:
YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £189.95
1 x MSI HD 7850 OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Cards with Tomb Raider & Bioshock PC Games £149.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £89.99
1 x GeIL EVO Leggera 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GEL38GB1600C9DC) £35.99
Total : £477.31 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Perhaps even a new case? How old is the PSU as well?

The PSU is about a year old, i needed to replace the old one as i got a GFX560Ti and my system wouldnt boot at all with it installed :)

Would you recommend replacing the GTX i have already? (possibly sell it I'd guess?)

I think a new case is a good idea but dont need to include that in my budget.

Would that motherboard be ok to overclock at a later stage?

A £100 over budget, but if you sell your current mobo, Cpu, ram and 560ti, this will recuperate the extra and then some. Should also be able to get a cooler and a better case if you wish. I think the 7950 is a better long term upgrade than the 7850.

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI HD 7950 Twin Frozr III Boost Edition 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with Crysis 3 & Bioshock PC Games £239.99
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £189.95
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £89.99
1 x Corsair Carbide 200R Compact ATX Case - Black £49.99
1 x GeIL EVO Leggera 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GEL38GB1600C9DC) £35.99
Total : £617.90 (includes shipping : £10.00).

The stock cooler will be all right, what after market cooler to recommend will depend on what case you decide to buy.

haha thanks.

for the moment i'm leaving the gfx card out (i konw will bottleneck) but will upgrade in the near future (possibly upgrade with 2 cards).

Thanks for your help! no doubt i'll be asking later when i come round to buy a gfx card to make sure i pick a good one!!

If you are going to go for 2 cards in the near future, then be sure to get a decent xfire/sli capable mobo. Something like this will will do.

You would also need to be certain that your Psu will handle sli/xfire, depending which cards you get.

great, i was looking at that mobo after reading some other posts on here.

I think i'll definatly need to upgrade my PSU might be pushing it with a 600w. Does say SLI ready and 80+ but doing some of the calculators it is a bit close!! :)

If you intend to OC the Cpu and Gpus, then a decent 750W Psu would be ideal. Just upgrade the Psu when you decide to get the second card.
And, if you go for that Shinobi case, remember it only comes with one fan included. Also check the maximum height for a cooler, so you get one that fits.
