£100?? excellent coolers can be had for £40

Excellent cars can be bought a lot cheaper than a ferrari... doesn't stop them from being desirable though for other reasons.

In the case of your "excellent coolers", I assume you mean air coolers that may or may not fit in everyone's case, and may or may not need a high performance fan (loud) fan to achieve "excellent" performance.

So many double standards around here - everyone seems able to justify the high price of the "Titan", but as soon as pre-filled water loops are mentioned, there is price snobbery.

It's not snobbery at all. This Antec unit may or may not fit in everyone's case, and may or may not need fans to be at high RPM to show good performance...

What others are trying to say and quite rightly is that some cheaper air coolers can give near the same performance with quiet, low RPM fans.

Also, it's not the same people saying Titan's price is justified whereas ALC units are not. In fact, I don't think I've seen anyone justify Titan's price...

I'm not saying that high end air coolers aren't better, or that they aren't necessarily quieter. But they fill a different niche, whether for space concerns, ease of removal e.g. if changing CPU often, bragging rights (e.g. telling non-computer savvy people that you have a water-cooled pc), or just because you don't like the look of a huge block of copper across your CPU.

It's Apples to Oranges - back to my far fetched car comparison:
400BHP Mitsubishi Evo vs a 400BHP Ferrari, ASSUMING both perform the same, and assume Mitsubishi is around 3 times cheaper than the Ferrari. Why would anyone go for the Ferrari? Because looks and style play a huge part for most people. Some people on here buy purely on style alone - price being no object if it means they can colour coordinate their motherboard, graphics card, ram, cooler

I'm not saying I agree with the pricing on them - they either need to be slightly more expensive than high end air coolers, or they need bigger performance gains to justify their high prices. I expect both will come in time as they become more mainstream.

I am glad to see they exist, as it is pushing water cooling into the mainstream, and generating some sorely need innovation in the pc cooling industry, which can only benefit everyone.

It is a similar situation though... People will pay more for a Titan even though it offers a generally small increase for a huge increase in price compared to e.g. a 7970. All in one coolers CAN offer a small increase in performance compared to a high-end air cooler, but again at a huge price increase.

I agree with you. People will always have different tastes but myself I always tend towards performance per price and noise. Unfortunately, ALC units I've used (a fair few of them) have always been louder than top end air coolers which is why I find it hard to justify them in most situations, especially when they are not necessarily better performers. They need to be much cheaper but as you say, people still buy them so the manufacturers don't necessarily need to charge less.
