Is Crysis 3 too demanding?

all this 'runs fine for me in xyz settings / res' needs to be backed up a screenshot showing FPS.

'it runs fine for me' may mean 60fps for one person, 30fps some another and 120 for another

for me ~45fps single player and 50fps+ in multiplayer is playable - 1440p, noAA, very high with high shaders, shadows and water

Very high vs High

and do you think a second card would really draw the over 300? the 680 power draw at the wall is 360w on metro 2033 according to reviews

He should be fine if his psu is bronze rated or better,
Very true, but of course it will depend on the brand of psu, it's efficiency rating and it's age. With a quality unit i reckon it would be ok. Best just to err on the side of caution when reccomending psu's for sli.

Guys, there is a clear CPU issue here as pointed out by a previous Poster with the PC Gamer Link. Ropes (FFS!) seem to be causing some massive FPS drops. Apart from that line of enquiry, I would agree that the game seems to be insanely demanding if a GTX 680 SLI cannot run it maxed out, but bear in mind the Tesselation issue that Crysis 2 had, and pray that the same thing is not happening here.

I'm playing at the highest settings with TXAA and get about 20-30 fps on an i7 3770k(4.6ghz) and GTX670 -looks amazing and is playable at that fps(for me anyway).

I also tried GeForce Experience Beta to set my settings and it came up with exactly the same as what I had but wanted to reduce my shadows to high.

GeForce Experience Beta can be downloaded here:
http://www.geforce.co.uk/drivers

I really dislike the GeForce Beta, I think it'll be good when it's finally released but the beta is awful, it tries to set my Borderlands 2 to PhysX High which is unplayable on a single card, Assassins Creed 3 to max which has horrible framespikes, Hitman Absolution to max which has really inconsistent framerate, some others too but I can't remember. Worst part is I had perfect custom settings on Absolution and I can't remember what they were. :(

i'd say no, not too demanding, the game would be optimized to play at a normal game play level, it is then down to user preference and system restrictions on exactly how pretty it looks

poorly optimized. My new system can't play this game at high which it should easily be able to do.

Jesus christ have I gone back to 2007? I can only assume this is a wind up.

If anything the developers need to make it MORE demanding. I couldn't give a monkeys if it runs on my system or not, I want to see devs really pushing the limits of what we can do with game engines. It will always have a graphically acceptable level of low/medium/whatever to let you play the game and look good, but what the community ending up doing with CryEngine 2, and where we eventually arrived with better cards later down the line, was astonishing.

I dont know what everyone is moaning about. Here are some shots from the start of the game where its most demanding showing fps and 1080p / 1440p / very high / high

People are never happy are they

Either you want cutting edge visuals or you don't. Crysis 3 has genuinely next gen graphics, so of course it's going to need some decent hardware to run properly. It's not minesweeper you know :p

I have the latest NVidia Beta's, ran Nvidia Experience and optimized settings and it runs and looks great on my rig (sig) :)

Don't care what people say Crysis 3 looks awesome and is very enjoyable, best £25 I've spent for a long time :D
