7850 with a Corsair 430w?

Ok won't be returning it then lol. If it breaks into a fireball im blaming you first :p

It's only worth returning and upgrading if you can and you know that you'll get something down the line that'll need more power. But for what you're currently running it won't be a problem.

Im not currently running anything, im in the process of getting parts bit by bit and putting everything together soon. But im planning to use the 7850 and was just checking to see if its okay. Not really thinking about upgrades, I haven't even got it running yet lol. Thanks for putting my mind at rest haha!

I probably come across as blindly defending corsair, but again SOURCE?

As pointed out in the Jonnyguru review, if you had read it cheap caps does not necessarily mean bad caps.

While Seasonic may be a good OEM, the XFX 450 isn't actually that great a PSU - The +12V Rail actually goes out of spec during testing.

XFX have also advertised features that the PSU does not have:

Edit: There was no question that 430w is probably borderline for his original application, but why argue that one budget PSU is worse than another that falls in the same price range... they are both built to a specific cost, both are considerably better than generic PSUs, but not as good as more fancy PSUs that will clearly cost more.

You come across blind because the only "source" you're mentioning is JohhnyGuru, it's clear you don't know much if you're just reading a review and gathering all your facts from there.

Fact is the XFX is overall a better unit and the Corsair CX has what gone through 3 versions? That says a lot really about their reliability

Also FYI yes I have read the review, if you would have as you claimed you can see they said themselves the efficiency was a dissapointment. So to sum things up Corsair is only 80 plus efficiency but still not as good as expected where as XFX 450w is 80 plus bronze and of course it has better caps. I know which PSU I would be going with ;)

p.s this wasn't intended as a personal assault, just needed to "clear the air" ;)

There probably is better psu's out there, but I currently have this one and don't want to return it and go through the hassle. I paid decent money for it , and I was just looking to make sure that it can handle what I will need it do. Thanks for all the feedback and opinions though, nice to gain a bit of knowledge. :)

Again - considering no one has posted any sources to justify their claims that corsair are substandard and that XFX is the be all and end all of PSU.

But yeah I'll bite and post another in depth review by people who actually know how to test a PSU (rather than simply plugging in an Antec atx tester and using a kill-a-watt meter):

Not really - most products undergo revision during there lifecycle, to cost reduce (e.g. PS3 Slim) or simply due to difficulty sourcing components over the lifespan of the product.

So the efficiency isn't great, but to be honest, how much real world cost is the difference between 80plus and 80plus bronze over a year? next to nothing.

Certainly no offence taken, at the end of the day I like a good discussion, but if people were offering me advice or recommendations I would expect to see some reasoning or justification - I therefore try to offer this in my recommendations.

Source not required its a Corsair product 99% of there products die.
^^ And this is exactly how not to offer advice or recommendations :)
