Aggressive Driving

What really winds me up, is those idiots that use them on the road believing they have the same rights as a car. Ive seen one on a dual carriageway before :/

Rock and a hard place, any kind of restriction or requirement would effect those who rely on them for their independence, so nothing will happen. If legislation did come into place you can expect a flurry of BBC/Guardian articles telling us in no uncertain terms that it's the darkest day in humanity since the crusades.

Last year, 2am coming home from work. Old guy on mobility scooter, dressed in black, lucky he was on the other side of the road coming the other way. No lights or anything. I slowed to a near stop with my mouth wide open

The only people that use them that bother me are those fat lazy people who can walk.

if they have one of the ones that has a speed of 8mph then they have to use it on the road

Yup, was just going to say. They can ride at up to 4mph on the pavement or 8mph on the road.

So when you rock up complaining about "those idiots that use them on the road believing they have the same rights as a car" you're kinda wrong all over the place.

If they are taxed and insured (My father in laws is) then they have every right to use the Public Highway

Guess what Public really means (clue, it doesn't mean car)

Although we really had to drive it into his numbskull that being in the right doesn't bring you back from the dead and it'll probably hurt heaps "clocking out".

He sticks to the cycleways now.

Oh.. and his does have lights (dunno about indicators though)

I was knocked down by a fatty in one of those scooter things in Asda once. She had the audacity to say it was my fault for not looking behind me.

They don't need to be taxed, you don't need a license, and there's no requirement that they be insured, though obviously it could make sense to insure them for various reasons.
