A10 5800k vs Intel Core i3-2130 3.40GHz

Wanting to build a xbmc computer.
in 2 minds to choose the Intel Core i3-2130 3.40GHz and MSI HD 6670 graphic card. or the A10 5800k. what would be a better performer.

If it's just for XBMC, a lower tier A8 or A6 would be a good choice too. Do you intend to do anything other than watch media, like gaming? With an APU you really wouldn't need a discrete GPU

The IGP in the A10 5800K is already HD6670 GDDR3 level with 1600MHZ DDR3.

The A10-6800K is being released next month too and should have an even faster GPU.

AMD Richland is out next month,so perhaps wait and see if that is better value for money??

Ha all of the Trinity A6/8/10 iGPUs are better than the 6450

3D Blueray, no idea sorry but the A8 5xxx and up are definitely compatible

if your not gaming yo might as well get the cheapest dual core ... hell you can go back as far as core duo. my old athlon 3700+ coudl run 1080p hd-dvd .. the graphics card does all teh work.

or even get a mobo with onboard 4200 graphics .. that wil cut it was well .. cheap dual athlon2 and your away

and whast wrong with the 6450 ? you just want it for watching movies ? even thats overkill

I have a 5800K as my CPU in my main rig, and it is great. I have got a dedicated card now, but it ran stuff pretty well, considering it is only £100 for the CPU and GPU all in one.

Go for it, you will not be dissapointed.

I've tried a 5800K, then added a cheap 6670 card to crossfire with it, it chugged along nicely in games.

One tip is you need fast RAM for these APU's to get the best out of them.
