Overpriced pieces of hardware

Why on earth would it be covered in tramp semen? And what makes tramp semen worse than it being covered in the semen of a person with a fixed abode? And who ejaculates enough to cover a Mk3 Mondeo in their spooge??

Who would be able to do it while looking at a Mondeo?

Considering the Graphics card the waterblock is for is going to cost £900, if you have that amount of money to urinate away then whats another £80 for a reliable waterblock?

1: £79.99 is £66 before tax.
2: That "piece of metal" is called copper, it is not a cheap metal.
3: Depending on the block chosen it also has acetyl or perspex on it.
4: A lot of research and development have gone into it.
5: The CAM/CNC equipment that makes them was/is not cheap to buy/maintain.
6: The blocks are tested before being packaged/shipped to ensure they work properly.
7: They come from Slovenia, that's over 1000 miles away.

All in all I think £66 before tax is fantastic for what you get, but then I'm not an idiot so I looked at all the facts before forming my opinion.

+1 for someone with some sense, and those factors listed are probably only half the story - I could think of staff wages, PR Costs, Product RMA/Warranty costs just a few quick extras that have to exist in there somewhere.

No it won't - it'll be a second hand car that for all you know might be covered in tramps semen.

A very sexually frustrated tramp?

A god damned sexual Tyrannosaurus, just like me.

Only on OcUK forums could we go from Product Costs to a sexually frustrated tramp tyrannosaurus. Legendary :)

God you would think half the people in this thread worked on/designed this particular waterblock lol.

Yeah for a chunk of metal its a bit much =/

The point is, more goes into the item than the raw material costs. You still don't seem to grasp that.

There's the costs as mentioned, but the bottom line is supply and demand. If their research showed that somebody paying hundreds of pounds on a graphics card is willing to spend a tenth of that cost on specialist cooling then you bet they're going to set the RRP at that.

It's a business, they will want maximum profit.

You could say the same about many things.

How about food? Go to even a cheap restaurant and it's £7-£8+ per dish, that's a bit much for just a couple of bits of animal and plant which have been warmed up!

How about computer software - that doesn't even exist, it's just someone's typing, paying £30+ for a game is a bit much isn't it?

Clothes - just a few bits of string tied together, £15 for a shirt?! That's a bit much!

If it's as easy as you're trying to make out, why don't you just do it yourself? ;)

Another cost you have forgotten is wages, bills, rent, and other maintenance costs. These things are not made out of thin air, or they do not mine these waterblocks from the rocks as they are. :p

A lot of hardware is over priced, as with many things in life. If there is a market to fleece, then companies will do just that.

As for this particular item, I don't think it's overpriced at all.
