A 15-year-old rape victim has been sentenced to 100 lashes for engaging in premarital sex, court officials said.
The charges against the girl were brought against her last year after police investigated accusations that her stepfather had raped her and killed their baby. He is still to face trial.

That said, we're all (I hope) disguested by this ruling, what can be done about it? For one we can make sure that we never travel to the Maldives, thinking about them for your honeymoon? Don't, cancel it, check the human rights next time and only go to places whose judicial morals you agree with.
I fail to see how the world can stand by and see these sort of laws still being used by countries, I fully believe that sovereignty of a nation only holds fast to the point at which it starts to abuse the rights of its people. Judges and government ministers who uphold such barbaric laws should be held accountable for their murderous actions in an international court with the full force of the civilised world behind it.
It is almost certainly a pipe dream at the moment but what else can be done in the long run? Do we just wait another hundred years until their stone age cultures catch up with the rest of the world or do we give them the motivation to advance quicker by prosecuting them for retaining such laws in their countries?
