Is Crysis 3 too demanding?

im surprised how well my aging system runs crysis 3, all very high at 1200p at 30-40fps. have to put objects down to high however due to weird spikey texture sticking out of phycho!

doesnt it depend on the manufacturer though?

KFA2 EX OC 670 + user overclock will naturally have greater performance than a reference model 670 with no overclock.

although looking at cHk4 having SLI 670's, i wouldnt expect low frames on anything! XD

You and me both mate.

I have 2xEVGA GeForce GTX 670 Superclock w/Backplate 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

You know I'm going to check as I did install the new drivers so I'm wondering if it has defaulted to using a single GPU and not SLI. Will check and report back!

Just a post i made in the Crysis 3 thread on the GPU Forum which i thought i'd share with this thread too.

No spoilers, just put it in spoiler tags to not make it a huge post.

Just performance, i didn't notice a difference between MSAA, SMAA, FSAA and turning AA off altogether visually, the only difference was TXAA visually, as it adds a blur(ish) effect.

MSAA knocked the FPS off by about 15.
TXAA knocked it off around 10-12.
SMAA knocked it off around 5-10.
FXAA none at all.

Here's two screenies of me running with everything maxed with TXAA High but Shadows, Objects and Shading on high.

FPS was 35+, but dipped to 30 on occasion - playable frame-rates for me.

To be honest, a PC game is never going to be as fully optimised to its full potential as you are not dealing with fixed hardware.

Although that's going a bit off-topic. It's good that Crytek are the forerunners of demanding graphics, it's just a shame hardly any other developers have the balls to do something similar.

1600P, but I have also tried it at 1200P and still get the same.

I'll have to run fraps tonight but I'm estimating as low as 15.

Something is knacked then, maybe with drivers. My single 670 in highest settings gets around 30fps. Downing to high increases massively, as does dropping the res

Tbh, anything below high isn't acceptable for gaming in my standards. If i was forced to use medium i would upgrade, but high is very much acceptable, i might drop down my very high settings to high just to hit 40fps.

What res are you at?

I noticed light effects on water totally disappear when going from very high to high - might have to leave that on v high too

1600x900, currently i've only changed shadows, shading and objects to high, the rest are on very high.

Are. Here's two shots showing 900p and 1440p in very high textures, very high everything, no AA (not sure why imgur is resizing from 1440p)

FPS down from 60 to 30 from 900p - 1440p

Low FPS mate, that's at everything at the highest it can be. Even when I drop a few things I'm having issues ( low fps ) :(

Hey chk4, I'm just about to try sli of my new 670 setup on Crysis 3, did you find out what was causing your performance issues, be good to know so I don't make the same mistake. Thanks.

what is this term 'not-overclocked'

can someone paraphrase it so I might better understand please...

seriously you have a quality brand PSU?

My rig in sig draws 630w MAX from the wall, on dirty, coal-powered 470's

You will be fine on your PSU, heck it might even put it in a more efficient wattage bracket
