over 32gb wanter

i had a bad feeling about that really wanted more ram (like making ram disks) does anyone know of any 16gb sticks guess that would be the only way is it will work

Don't think there will be any standard 16gb sticks, although maybe there are am3 workstation class boards that take ecc/reg ddr3 which does come in 16gb capacities. Don't know as not looked into it recently - might just be for opterons

and cost is too high for them as well, and yes i have looked, i have 16gb but would love a load more, my board will fit 32gb, but many don't, and ram drives are great :) so keep looking or change your board/cpu

I know the Intel Sandybridge and Ivybridge chips only support 32GB, but i have no idea about the AMD Intel chips. But I wouldn't be surprised if you need an opertron or dual sockets for more.

Have just looked into this, and although some AM3+ boards support ECC (e.g. Asus Sabertooth 990FX - it is only unbuffered ECC which is still only available up to 8Gb/Stick).

You would need to move to a platform Xeon/Opteron that supports ECC/Registered, which at present you can get in 16Gb and 32Gb Sticks (e.g. 4 slots = 64Gb or 128Gb)
