I know this is not what the OP is asking date-wise, but I've always gone for a September weekday (or early October) when all the kids have gone back to school and the weather is still mild.

You were at Alton on 27/3 last year and 27/3 this year hasn't happened yet, so how do you know they were right? Think you need to rephrase :-)

Not really, I was at Alton Towers at 27/3 last year and it was awful.
