In the process of buying cpu coolers, (still havent)

I have a h50 and two Sp120 fans, and a nzxt phantom case...

I was looking at upgrading to the h80 or h100 secondhand however I'm wondering where's the best place the rad

Case has the standard fans as coming with, so looks like

.... Fan........................
F.................................
A.................................
N.................................
...................................F
...................................A
...................................N

Where would be the best place to run a push pull? Im guessing to use the back two as intake or exhaust

Need help :(

Either the back or top positions are the normal positions to use since both as exhaust positions (the front bottom fan being intake) - obviously if you go for the H100, then you'll have to go for the top position due to the size (and you'll need more fans for push/pull setup)

I have the Kuhler 620 with sp120s in push/pull going out the back fan position and this works fine with no issues for space (radiator in this is slightly thinner than the H80)

Are you getting good temps with that??

So your running

Outside case < |Rad| < inside case??

Doesnt that use warm air from inside the case to push through the radiator?? Instead of clean air from out side the case??

And if i got the the h100 would i be exhausting through the top or intake through the top???

I always found using an exhaust setup with these closed loop systems to be better, but then again I've never dabbled much with the likes of a h100.

This. Especially if you have a gpu that dumps heat in the case. Keep your setup as it is and use the rear exhaust as a push pull exhaust on the h80.

Its personal preference how you fit it really. Corsair say to install it as an intake because it means it will take the cooler air from outside the case instead of using the warmer air inside the case which in theory would give better results. However the disadvantage to that is you now have an intake fan that was previously sucking in cooler air from outside the case putting hot air from the CPU cooler in the case instead. Probably not a problem if you have a few intake fans

I have the H80 installed on the front of my case as an intake but I originally planned to use it as an exhaust on the back of my case. I couldn't use it as an exhaust because my rear fan slot was too near my power supply and the rad wouldn't fit. I only have 1x120mm slot on the front and 1x120mm on the rear, plus an 80mm on the side panel. After fitting the H80 my GPU temps didn't increase drastically maybe 2-3 C max, the 80mm fan on my side window is an intake now though and it sits directly above the GPU's so this probably helps. I'm running 550ti's in SLI which probably aren't the hottest of cards anyway.

The best thing to do is really is experiment with different configurations and monitor your temps. This will give you an idea of what works best with your setup. Then settle for what ever gives you the best results.

Hi guys im in a similar situation i have a fairly small case with a lot of hardware in it.

cooler master storm scout case,
h80i water cooler,
3770k processor
7970 ghz graphics card,
2x 1 tb hard drive
1x 240 SSD
16 gig of ram

im thinking about having the h80i and an exhaust (i don't like the idea of pumping warm air into the case my graphics card get hot enough as it is when overclocking) and then all the other fans; top, side and front as intake..

I know the top fan is normally an exhaust hot air rises but i figure those crosair 120 x2 should pull allot of that air out and hopefully that air is pretty cool with all of those fans as intakes ? Any thoughts
