In online forums, some vegetarians protested at the move.

One wrote: “Whether this is simply a publicity stunt planned by their marketing department to cause public outcry, or whether Walkers think this change in ingredients will increase their profits, I will certainly be contacting them to let them know how I feel, and urge you to do the same.”

Another wrote: “The more people that email them, the more likely they will be to reconsider the new ingredients.”

Yes, how dare they put meat into meat-flavour products. What an outrage.

What a bunch of idiots, don't want meat don't eat it.
Any move towards better ingredients is good in my book.

Also wonder. If this has anything to do with the trend towards natural ingredients over the last ~decade combined with the horse stuff. Where there's now a bit of an out cry for knowing. Exactly what's in products.

I've tried them and they taste almost exactly the same as before, although I rarely ever eat crisps so perhaps I can't tell the difference. Good marketing but rather odd since it does stop all the vegetarians from now buying those crisps.

Why would a vegetarian want to eat something that tasted like meat?

That's real committed of you veggies! Well played.... pillocks.

I seem to recall something along the lines of- Cheese and Onion* flavour Crisps were not suitable for vegetarians but Beef* flavour were...

*Insert the correct vegetable/meat flavour

I too am confused by this, you don't eat meat, why would you want to eat meat flavored products?

Its almost as stupid as turkey bacon.

If you choose not to eat something, its just as bad eating something pretending its the product you choose not to eat.

How on earth can you get confused.
Not everyone does it for taste. A lot of it for health and/or welfare reasons. So what's wrong with them wanting the taste?

And your last line is just idiotic.

And I've accounted for that by saying if you choose, and not "can't".

People having different views, serious business.

I choose not to eat bacon because of my religious views, but I'm going to have this lovely turkey bacon sandwich made with pretend bacon.

Stick with your decision! Its not much of a lifestyle choice or decision of conscious if you have to cheat to get by.

You choose to live without real tasty bacon, suck it up.

Choose/can't have zero to do with it, and does account for your crazy statements at all.
It's not a differing view. It's just an idiotic, misinformed view.

Give me one good reason, why a veg shouldn't have meat flavoured stuff?
Give me one sensible reason why someone who does. It for say welfare reasons is just as bad for eating vegi meat flavoure compared to some one eating meat.

As a vegan I've never wanted to eat beef flavour crisps etc. it's just sad that people will now be eating some disgusting animal product in crisps. I mean it's hardly going to be pieces of steak is it, it will be pink slime esque rubbish! The same can be sai for gelatine

Are you always this rude and confrontational when you have a different view to someone?

As for why a vegetarian wouldn't want to eat them , I refer you to Moons post above.

I managed to get through that without directly calling you an ignorant gob***** see how easy it is?

He's a vegan, and that's just his opinion. Surely you should be able to understand why a vegetarian would want to eat meat flavoured crisps? Some vegetarians are vegetarians because they don't think that animals should be killed to make meat. If they like the taste of meat flavoured crisps, they are able to enjoy a flavour of crisps they like while knowing that no animal was killed to make them.

Why is this so hard for people in this thread to understand?

Moons stat, net means nothing at all. Why do you think it does? It doesn't prove your statements.

I called your statement idiotic, not you. You can't defend what you said.
You haven't even attempted to either.

So come on defend those statements of yours.
