Walkers' new crisps range uses real ingredients - including meat

Which is fine, but they don't really have any room to complain when something meat-flavoured starts to be made with actual meat. If you choose not to eat meat, you can't expect to not be an inconvenience when it comes to meat-flavoured products.]

Yeah, this was kind of my point, but people seem to be going 'Why on earth would vegetarians like the flavour of meat and be vegetarian!'

This is Walkers' loss. The causes of their actions is a reduction in the their potential customer population.

Possibly.
Although I don't know what the stats are for vegi vs natural ingredient.the latter is a continually growing market and has already led to many changes in these types of products.

I would assume they have done their research and any lost custom from vegetarians will be made up for with an increase in custom due to the switch to more natural ingredients.

Well the flavours are inspired by the taste of the animals! So this is linked to animal cruelty in vegetarian eyes. Too many people not being committed enough, "yeah I am a veggie, but I eat bacon, pork, beef" Gah! Reminds me of an episode of Come Dine With Me with Paul Dannan.

Presume they must have some kind of rennet in them? Not sure what though...

Yup my mate was veggie and I was always confused how he could have meat flavour crisps but not cheese and onion lol. Not sure what type of rennet it was tho

Yup now to resolve the dropping customer base they need to fix their cheese n onion/salt and vinegar mismatch packet colour to get some customers back ;) :p

Stupid vegetarians. Shut the hell up and eat a burger like a normal person!

Nutroast burger! .... bleurgh

Or not. It's a multinational company, not care in the community. I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing.

They say that vegetarians are generally more health concious/aware than meat eaters (which personally I think is a load of tosh) so why would they want to eat a transfat ridden toxic junk food anyway? (sorry if that offends people who eat crisps but c'mon, they are a waste of the energy it takes to go and buy them, eat them and digest them). You'd probably derive more nutritional goodness from licking a park bench.

Why would a vegetarian want to eat something that tasted like meat?

That's real committed of you veggies! Well played.... pillocks.

But they don't though do they....think about it does that bacon crisp really taste like bacon? No , does prawn cocktail taste like prawns? No?

It is about the flavour not the words that promote the product

ya know just like those beef burgers that aren't actually beef... ;)

nah I will enjoy living longer and not getting colon cancer than ;)

Please stop talking out of your arse-hole!

Regularly consuming fresh meats/fish that are unprocessed/unrefined doesn't increase the risk of colon cancer, infact constituents of meats, fish & animal fats such as CLA, omega fats and many other fatty acids/proteins have been shown to be strongly anti-carcinogenic.

Speaking up for a vegetarian diet is all very well and if it's a well thought out diet then I'm sure you can maintain great health. But all you do is show total disdain for meat eaters and make ridiculous, sweeping generalisations that you probably picked up from some crackpot, propaganda filled vegetarian website. You're probably one of those veggies who wears a 'go veggie' T'shirt.:p

how did you expect me to respond to a post showing equal distain for vegetarians? My point is people who eat a plant based diet are healthier than meat eaters, thats a fact. I doubt walkers are filling their crisps with good quality meat, its most likely rennet or mechanically recovered meat juice or similar junk, it just adds to the obesity epidemic.
