Quantum of Solice - dissapointing :(

I like these new Bond films now despite not liking Casino Royale when I first saw it at the cinema.

The main problem with QoS was the action sequences which were cut too quickly. I don't have a problem with the downplayed villan though and muddlesome plot. Getting a bit sick of films that make everything 100% obvious and spelt-out to be honest.

Yusuf, (Simon Kassianides) the previously unseen French-Algerian boyfriend of Vesper Lynd, has a minor villainous role in this film.

So if he was a minor villian why did M go all the way to Berlin to oversee his capture? If it was to see Bond why not wait a few hours for Bond to fly back to London and see him then at headquarters? It makes no sense for M to be there if he is a nobody.

I enjoyed Quantum of Solace, I thought it wasn't quite as good as Casino Royal.

Casino Royal, was a very good film, a return to form for the James Bond franchise, good writing, good acting, great action scenes, decent pace.

Quantum of Solace was good, but failed to be as good as Casino Royal. It had a lot to live up to, the action scenes were much better, but the film suffered slightly as a result.

"Erotic is when you use a feather, porn is when you use the whole chicken"

I always thought it was, "Erotic is when you use a feather, Kinky is when you use the whole chicken" ;)

I lifted it out of an episode of Nip/Tuck a few months back...also as my sideline is pornsites, felt more adequate to use porn than kinky :)

Just to reignite this thread I just watched the two back to back and Quantum of Solace just didn't seem right. Who was the Arch villian. It's no point in saying we haven't seen him yet or the arch villain is "the company" à la Prison Break. I just felt lost during the film. I still haven't a bond (no pun intended) with Bond. He's a maverick who didn't seem to get things done. He loses his credit cards yet still manages to fly round the world and rent boats etc. I suppose it's off his Royale winnings I take it. The French guy was great one of the best characters in the film. I didn't think the main woman had any likeability factor like Halle Berry had or various previous bond girls.

I still enjoyed it but hope they don't try to link all the movies together. Bond worked in the past due to the fact you didn't need to give the character a background. He's bond he doesn't really need a background.

Watched it fully for the first time recently. It gradually got better as it went on.

Am I the only one that saw a glimpse of 'lady garden' late on in the film?

It's when the attempted rape (by the fat Bolivian) is taking place. There's a brief glimpse on what I saw as a piercing 'downstairs'. I rewound it to confirm it.

There are a few mentions of it online as well.

Not sure what version you watched, but she's definitely wearing something on mine. :p

Watched this a few days ago without having seen Casino Royale and I was thoroughly confused. Gonna watch Skyfall on Saturday and I hope I have more clue as to what the hell is going on. :p

Yes, you were meant to watch Casino Royale first. :p Don't skip it though - it's one of the best!

I'll pick it up on Blu-Ray or something, it's bound to be cheap by now! In fact I might buy QoS as well and watch it properly with some headphones on. The only bit I can remember is the car chase near the start which was woefully shot. :p

I went from Casino Royale straight to Skyfall. I will watch Quantum but will wait to get the blu-ray boxset complete with Skyfall.

Like a few readers here, I've been conditioned to the Moore / Connery era with car rocket launchers, sharks, lasers, under-water fortress, volcano fortress, guys with sharp teeth and double decker buses being ripped in half! Out of the 'new' Bond films (1995-present), I liked Tomorrow Never Dies as I felt that was closest to the old Moore/Connery formula.

Skyfall goes kinda back on the right track and I think it will bridge the gap back to the old Bond. Take note of the M briefing/debriefing room with the leather interiors.

Don't bother watching QoS it's a terrible film, do something else with the two and a bit hours. Certainly don't buy it.

I think Daniel Craig (sp?) as Bond is ****. Not cool enough & his smug face needs hitting with a gravel shovel.
