If you have to stay in a bed they give you a pair of compression tights/socks as well

just outpatient thank god, I work there too so ended up having to show the nurses how to use the e-learning software while I waited an hour for my appointment....

I've just been looking at my strava from when I first got my bike beginning of Aug last year.

I'm 5mins quicker on my commute home than I was then, and 3.5mph quicker on average! :)

One thing I have noticed though is the calories burnt is bull!! How can cycling for 29mins at 14mph burn more calories than 24mins at 17.5mph... Useless!

I was going like a mad man tonight (for me anyway) and dripping with sweat when I got home haha!

Oh... on the topic of climbing - I'm awful! I hate hills, because I'm too heavy (read: fat) and cannot sustain power for very long at all before my brain tells me to change down to stop my legs burning :( it's even worse if I'm out of the saddle!

How does one improve on such things? Other than go and cycle up more hills! :)

Do be aware with a bigger spread of ratios that it might work out feeling nowhere near as nice for your general riding when you are using the middle of the cassette.

If you arent really struggling massively with a 12-25 i'd change to something like a 12-27 or 12-28.

I use LOOK Keo cleats but run them with exustar pedals which I would highly recommend, usually massively cheaper than the look equivalent but lighter and seemingly just as durable.

Mine (E-PR100PP) have been faultless for over 2500miles so far and only weight 127g for £23.99!

Plus if you want to go mega fancy these carbon/ti ones are only 93g: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EXUSTAR-E...Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c4d6262c1

Which is lighter that the equivalent Look Keo Blade Carbon Ti, and £100 less!

Very pleasant 20 miles this evening. Surprisingly mild - I could have managed without my winter jacket and probably coped with lighter gloves too. I got out into the middle of nowhere with a clear sky and got a great view of the stars, which was most welcome compared to overcast skies and light pollution.

Key observations:

1) Some car drivers are absolute boneheads. If I have slowed down because there is an ambulance with blues and twos coming up the middle of the road the other way this is not your cue to overtake me.
2) Taking your eyes off the tarmac to look at the pretty jogging ladies is a great way to find potholes.

Lol :D

I managed a short 15 miles after work. Not particularly quick at 17.5mph average, my usual is nearer 20mph but enjoyable all the same.
My excuse is I'm getting over a cold;)

Yep, 9 speed shifters. And there doesn't seem to be anything close that has the capacity required, I wouldn't mind a bit of an upgrade in quality, but it does seem a fairly large price jump and I haven't really had any problems with the rear shifting on the Sora stuff (the front is another matter...)

So, working it out on average there is a 1.5tooth difference in gear change, then moving from a 25 to a 27 would feel similar to gaining two more gears low down? Tbh, that would probably do me nicely, especially if I keep smoothness and in middle. Although it looks like I'd have to go for 11-28 as 11-27 doesn't seem to exist in 9 speed.

Okay, excellent, so my shopping list is -

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-hg61-9-speed-29er-cassette/
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-sora-9-speed-rear-derailleur/

Don't think I need a new cable or chain, as they seem fine...

Anyone able to tell me I'm making a massive mistake before I buy these?

It's not about weight, it's about power:weight ratio ;)
Heavy guys can climb too.

To a degree that's true, but there's a limit obviously (that's not directed at you - you know this stuff). An 80KG Pro, like Thor Hushovd for example, will generally always be in the Gruppetto. Compared to any of us though he'd still be a rocket up the climbs, so it's a matter of perspective.

Obey mavity - it's the law! ;)

Sigh...

the stuff i had stolen last night is already on ebay, googling the sellers name brings up many many many forum threads about him selling stolen bike kit.

Unbelievable. Is there no way to trace him? Get the police on to him? You've posted pics on here of your bike, so surely you can show it's yours...

His house has been raided before according to other forums, but he just makes new ebay accounts everythings listed as posted only, cycletaskforce know his address and know who he is,

he needs sent down but itll never happen.
