1gb of data....

Really hard to say to be fair as it completly depends what sites etc you go on.

Its a good fair ammount though so I very much doubt you will go over. If your concerned I would just make sure you do streaming/downloads over wifi.

Tell us what device this is on and what speed of connection you have... If this 1gb of data is on a phone you have more to think about than just browsing.

Is this a question relating to a monthly cap or are we talking payg?

I'll actually provide a serious answer, though the question is a bit silly...

The speed will not make a difference to the amount of data used by a certain activity, it'll just make you more likely to use the device to consume media that requires more data, eg. streaming video and audio. If you are just going to browse webpages, send emails and similar, 1GB may very well be enough. If you start streaming audio and video, you'll see this rise massively; I use Google Play Music and an mobile network HD-enabled version of the YouTube app and my usage is now approaching 1.7GB in a week of relatively light usage.

Not true, if you can browse pages 10x faster you will browse more pages in a given time because you're not waiting for them to load.

This really stands to be true.

As a serious answer unless your streaming video often then 1GB is fine for just browsing the web. Even the bigger sites on the net with a lot of images take up a few MBs of data, a lot of which can be saved on your phone so it doesn't have to download it again and again.

As said in the rest of my post, essentially. Loading one page 10x faster will not result in more data being used for that one page. If you have a faster connection you will be compelled to use more data in a given time merely because you can, ie. not really the same exact activity (more than one oage). That includes browsing more, which is just common sense.

It's all stating the obvious/nitpicking really, but I guess such a question will attract such answers.

I used 682MB last month tethering my Playbook to my phone, and browsing:

Forums, including a few with lots of adverts.
Random/Regular websites.
Updating emails multiple times a day.

If you browse a lot, I would really suggest you get more than 1GB. 1GB will NOT be enough for using you tube realistically.

I didn't use as much as normal last month, but I still exceeded 15gb. It's scary how some companies still sell smartphones with 100mb of data...

That's for clueless people, 100mb sounds like it's more than 1gb, so when they go overclockers them pay for it big time. I've seem as few with 500mb I think my apps use more than that are month just updating
