I don't want this to be a sexist thread and I am not being sexist in the slightest. But women are just not funny.

Lets look at the facts. There are no decent funny stand up comics, Miranda is not funny, that annoying Sarah Millican:mad:

Wonder why this is?

Women just can't do comedy. The only woman that I think of that has made me smile ever is probably Victoria wood:p But thats about it.

I agree - not with the Victoria Wood comment mind, she's **** too unless you are a blue rinse wearer.

Sarah Millican is the exception on the odd occasion, but more often than not - not funny!

Katherine Ryan is great, she's been on quite a few panel shows and things recently and never fails to make me laugh. Although the fact she's not British probably has a lot to do with that.

Katherine Ryan is great

it helps that she's hot. :p

and i think it's a bit unfair to write off half the human race based on what the BBC consider prime time material. i mean they employ michael mcintyre and john bishop FFS!!

(oh and don't ask me for examples of funny women. i'm sure there are plenty out there who just don't get on tv. :p)

In the realms of new media I actually find there to be far more funny women than men.

Female comedians either don't flourish in old media or not many bother pursuing it.

Jo Brand is funny but all her jokes are about her being fat or unattractive. There isn't much variety.

Down and out false ... some of her jokes are about her husband being fat and unnatractive! :D

Sarah Millican has her moments, and I actually quite like Shappi. I wouldn't say women are less funny just not as stand-up inclined. Jennifer Lawrence can be pretty funny and I think her shy/nieve awkwardness is an act.

I've always thought this. There are almost no funny comediennes and I never meet funny women.

Also, why are all the best painters, film directors and chefs men? I think it might be due to our instinct for creativity which might not be as strong in women. Just look at the biggest readers of comics and fantasy books and the biggest group of video game players - all males. I think the male brain is built for creative thinking. I don't believe the oppression of women has caused there to be almost no famous female chefs or film directors/script writers (the only famous female directors I can think of are Sofia Coppola (?) who directed Lost in Translation years ago and nothing good since, and the woman who directed Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty). The only famous women on TV who cook are not chefs, they are just cooks who look good on TV.

There is the argument that since games and comics are mostly targeted at men, that women will be unlikely to be interested in them and thus unlikely to pursue a career related to them, but I work in IT and there are almost never any women IT support or developers. This makes me think women don't have the same type of brain that likes technology.

Controversial I know, but look at reality - how many women can build a PC? There's nothing stopping them, and everyone uses PCs.

Jo Brand isn't bad - until you've heard her retell the same joke for the 100th time. Agree with most of the others.

There are some women who are quite humerous tho, Judi Dench on form has an amazing dry wit for instance.
