Possibly stupid question about sat nav

First of all, this isn’t for a car, it’s for my mountain bike. I will soon be spending some time in a town that I’m totally unfamiliar with, and I’m looking for a sat nav to help me get around.

As I’m on a mountain bike I can do things that cars can’t: go through alley ways, cross parks, wrong way up one-way streets, use pedestrianized areas etc. With this in mind, is there such a thing as a sat nav that can plan a route as if I’m on foot, but can still be used in the normal way in a car if the need arises?

well, you could use a Garmin Edge Cycle computer (GPS) that way you could use in the car if need be, but use for biking too, if you are going to get a computer for your bike, consider one of these

I know my TomTom (car sat nav) does walking routes

Google Nav on an Android phone can plot routes for cars, cyclists or pedestrians.

Garmin 705 or 800 are both good.

Clearly the law doesn't apply to you since you are on a push bike.

Use GPS on your phone as Simeon else has suggested, google maps can do pedestrian routes which I guess you'd be using, and cycling apparently?

just looked on my TomTom and u can use it for car, cycling or walking, but the battery life isnt great
best bet is a Garmin Edge, as the battery life can last a day
