After I sold the BMW Track car and told myself no more toys (Got too many!!) I got bored instantly and wanted something cheap, reliable and insurance friendly. I had dabbled with old MGBs etc but like I said.. reliable. Anyways, I noticed this little MX5 for sale, two previous owners, last owner must have loved it a little bit as its got full set of Eagle F1's (Worn:p) Magnecor leads, K&N panel filter and a load of history to go with it.

Its the 1.8 UK model, basic spec so no P/S, no electrics etc. Requires water pump and cambelt to be on the safe side, little bit of rust on rear drivers arch and bolt rear parts of the sills looking scabby. Other than that general tidying up jobs. Bought the car for £550, insurance £188 and its MOT'd until October! Some crap pics, will get more when I get around to it.

Also how on earth do you sign up to MX5 OC forum! I've not had a reply for my account creation.

Lol is that rear plate held on with cable ties? :D

Looks like a thorough bargain for £550, well done! Shame about the no PAS though :( but it's a not-too-difficult retrofit in the future if you wish.

These things really do represent the best possible fun-per-£ in the motoring world, I'm sure

I know speed isn't everything, but this is the massive reason why I am not buying one to track.

Good buy for 550 quid though! Enjoy!

Wut?

They can be quick too y'know, and given how cheap they are, slapping on FI isn't that expensive really (certainly compared to FIing some cars).

OP - Good buy, for £550 that is great although I hear the rust goes inside out so you might want to keep an eye on that/get it sorted. Saying that, at £550 it isn't that big a deal if it rots out after a year, still fun little car for very little money!

Very nice car you have there for the money! Paintwork looks very good for the age.

Best time of the year to buy them as well....

As far as the forums goes have you checked your junk mail?

Thats where my confirmation email got lost!

ill have a check when I get home. rust isnt an issue as you can see with the xr2 on the spit lol. it definitely aint as fast as the beemer but just as much fun. may look at supercharging it

Yep i'd check the inner sills, quite often the inner reinforcement has gone and you notice nothing much from the outside...rot from the inside out, especially if the roof drains are blocked - the sills themselves are not supposed to be drained into :-) but hell at that price you could break it for 3 times that....
