I just noticed that the front glass on my S3 has a crack in it from one side of the phone to the other
Have no idea how or when it happened..

Has anyone here replaced or tried to replace the front glass on there S3 ??
as I see you can buy the glass fronts for around £10 to £20 off ebay..

Be great if anyone has any youtube links for how to do this...

I would buy a new LCD with the glass and replace it, then sell the one with broken glass and let the pro's fix it.

This - much easier than potentially screwing up the LCD you currently have and wasting the money buying new glass.

That way would cost me about £100
(I.E new LCD costs around £150, minus £50 by selling my broken one)
And also you would need to take the risk of stripping the whole phone apart to replace the LCD

where if I can mend it by buying just the front glass it cost me around £15 to £20 and I no need to strip the phone..

Whichever way I choose there a very high chance of messing up and ending up with just a £400 paperweight...;)

If it's anything like taking apart a s2 then I would take my chance any day with swapping the full thing, it's just as few screws and a few ribbon cables and it's off, really easy, so was a s1 I did

Don't forget to post pictures of your broken LCD when your done

I sent mine direct to samsung and cost 139 to replace cracked screen i thought that was worth it and havent had a single problem since my advice is take out insurance

Had a bit too much to drink last night. :(

Mine cracked a few months ago, only a tiny crack and everything worked fine so I ignored it.

Went to use the phone a week ago and there was purple / green liquid all in the screen. I quickly backed everything up as within a few hours the entire screen failed.

I'm now sending it off to be recycled for £120 as the screen replacement costs are stupid.

I guess am a little more lucky with mine as it only a single crack from one side to the other side..
I still haven't done anything or ordered anything to try fix it mine yet..

Got it new on release day.
As you can see he doesn't faff with it being pristine - he has insurance :D

What the hell!?! How did he do that!? :o

Friends GS 3 is also badly cracked (+ water damage) so I am selling it to mazuma for £110 and going to probably get her the nexus 4. Haven't got a photo but this is what hers sort of looks like:

Will try to get a photo posted when I get the phone.

Hopefully Samsung will have changed the design in that respect so it isn't as easy to break when dropped i.e. not have the glass extending right to the edge.

After the first drop he really gives up caring what happens thereafter. He knows he has insurance and intends to use it. He has no attachment to things like phones etc.

I like the way the screen curves over the edges on the S3 - Gives it a lovely feel in the hand and they shouldn't change it just because it's more likely to crack the screen.

EDIT - It still works and uses it as normal. And he always chuckles when he get funny looks on the train.

Some scary pics there, looking at Kona's nephew's I thought at least a mugger wouldn't take it but they would it's still worth well over £100, did any of you have cases of any type, I've dropped my N4 loads of times and it's pristine in a flip.

I have insurance but until I get my number 1 phone the inconvenience of going back to my c902 if a repair was needed would be hell.
