Is there any way to turn off the annoying beep when my nexus 4 comes into contact with my wireless debit card?

I couldn't work out why my Nexus kept beeping when I put it down on top of my wallet after I first got it. I didn't have an Oyster card or NFC debit card or anything.

After digging through my wallet, turned out it was detecting my old uni student card that was still in there from 2008, didn't even know it had an NFC chip in it as it was never used while I was there.
