I just worked out my yearly spend for last year on Electricity.
I was (according to my bank statements) £2341.
Small 1 bedroom barn conversion on economy 7 with storage heaters.
All Electric, no gas heating, or gas supply.

Am I alone in thinking this is a tad too high?

That is pretty high, 2 bed house, myself, wife and child with some crappy oil heaters, electric oven, washing machine and hot water on 50% of the time is just over £1k.

Just got my bill in the other day for 3 months was £594.60:eek::eek:

Same as me i have storage heaters, one bedroom apartment, no gas.:(:(

I guess its the storage heaters then :(
We are moving out this month though, was just trying to sort out the budget for the new place when i realised my spend was huge!

I am led to beleive I should see £40-£50 a month in the new place. Which is a much nicer figure, and leaves us with a bit more cash monthyl!

The storage heaters are crippling me, 2 hours on in the evening and 2 hours 4am-6am, i have now turned the evening setting off now to try and save a bit of cash for next bill.

all electric heating and storage heaters are why its so high, especially a conversion property.

Bit high maybe but surprising no

Our electricity is ~£50 a month
Gas ~£40 a month

Showers are heated by the gas, so is the heating. Cooking is all electric. Plus, at least one pc on 24/7. Sometimes 3 on.

Rarely use the heating though, only for a few hours max in the evening. My PC keeps my office warm enough.

£30 a month for me in a 1bed flat with my comp on all the time
13.5p /kwh

nearly all my cooking is slowcooker/combi microwave so probably saving some money not using an electric cooker

Electric has just gone up to £363 a month
Gas stayed the same at £170 a month
Was offered a lower tariff for electric to save £36 i just laughed no thanks.

lol Malt, thats a bit crazy, are you growing weed?

I wish it would get that hot!!

It's still freezing in the mornings downstairs with that bill. Its a stone floor, and seems to just pull any heat out of the place. The high ceilings are pretty good at taking all the heat up and away too :P

Still, hopefully save me at least £100 a month from now on by moving!

Guys unless your ina barn conversion with all electric heating and storage heaters with everything on the same timings as OP all your posts are incomparable.

Would be interested to see what energy rating the conversion is and what timings the op has heating and storage heaters on.

@ the OP. note your meter readings at 8am one day then 8am the next and post up your usage over 24 hours.

Would be interested to see this.... (works for one of the hated 6 energy suppliers)

Im on Economy7 and the heaters come on at the changeover, and go off at changover. So, we only heat using the night rate.

I will get a reading in the morning if I remember :D

well im interested
a) on your daily consumption overall for both rates
b) If the consumption is recording all on the day rate rather than splitting eg faulty time switch on the meter which would account for a high bill
