11.6" gaming laptops- any good?

I can get the following spec, in a 11.6" chassis:
I7 3630qm
8GB ddr3 1600
Nvidia GT650M
1TB

For £707. Firstly, Will it melt?
secondly, will this spec be good for gaming?
I can get the same spec in a 15.6" chassis, would this have lower temps?

Nope sorry it has a 1366*768 screen too... It's a normql laptop lol

I personally wouldn't bother gaming on a laptop with less than 17" screen. Especially with a battery life of under 30mins when gaming.

Nope, a 14" would have been ideal for me sadly!

I am not a fan of 17"laptops, I think theyre too big and heavy, I like laptops to be more portable.

I agree, however 17" is not practical for long journeys.

14" is what ive been looking for but i cant find one either.

I'd be intrested to know how a machine of that spec would run modern games and the likes of planetside 2/BF3/Skyrim/Farcry 3 etc.

I've popped into this quiet subburb of OCUK as im getting pressured for advice on replacement laptops from a OSX convert mate and TBH im a little out of touch with laptops as the last one i bought was 4 years ago.

Depends on resolution, etc. with skyrim for instance the GT650M would get around 40fps with a mix of medium and high settings at 1366x768 but drop to ~20-25fps at 1920x1080 - I suspect a similiar story for most of the others you've listed.

You should be able to get an Acer 14" with a gt640 which would do the job

edit: sorry, seems they are 15" and not 14" here in the uk anyway
