***The Official Sony Xperia Z Thread ***

^^ interesting vids the first English speaking one mirrors my surprise at the ergonomic aspect, I went in the shop very positive about both phones, excited to see them and left feeling meh about both, more so for the Sony but it has got its killer app, waterproof.

Going from the vids Sony are sticking to their guns re the eccentric UI and lag, from my own hands on and the various vids I've seen the waterproof factor is the only actively good thing this phone has going for it and it feels actively bad in the hand, sorry to say.

Can't believe they have put such a crappy screen in this and have made it totally square, it could have been such an awesome phone, especially with being waterproof!

My local Tesco had it on display.

I just placed my order for one changing from an S3. £26 a month, free phone, unlimited texts, unlimited data, 500mins on T-Mobile.

Planning on recycling my S3 for about £250 to pay of the remaining bit of my Vodafone contract.

im only signing for 12 months next time :) but no way is paying 230 for headset and then 47 a month for 12 month is worth it.. :) they should offer more choices with 12 month contract.. 24 is just too long these days

Can any owners elaborate more on ownership so far? Is it laggy? I'll be changing from an iPhone 4s so would like that fluidity the iPhone has.

I wouldn't call it laggy by any means. But comparing it to an iPhone, then the iPhone is still more fluid, and less 'laggy' even if it's by the tiniest amount. Same thing said by my friends who have SGS3, Nexus 4. The top end phones out there are by no means laggy, but I think only the most ardent Android fanboys would deny that iPhone is still smoother.

This Apple fanboi would disagree:

im no fan boy but i dont find iOS any smoother than my old s2 with custom ROM :)

Nope its as smooth as my SGS3 on a custom rom, IOS has nothing going on so ofcourse its not laggy:D

The more i'm using it the more i'm liking it, plus its 1000x better looking then the SGS3 so that's a massive bonus.

I said i was going to go for a phone that appealed to me not only in spec's but in person as a physical thing i have to use everyday and with the SGS3 i just hated it after a while because of its looks!

yeah i hope s4 is something closer to s2.. but looking at the note 8 it seems they are keeping the same "nature" design :(

And thus the more we see, the more we realise that despite the hype, what we have here is another highly flawed Android phone that as usual looked great on paper. :(
