***The Official Sony Xperia Z Thread ***

"We" meaning multiple people in this thread, on other forums, and from professional reviews. Yes.

But, glad you're enjoying your phone, I'm always the same for the first few weeks I have one, until the warm rosy glow fades and you start to notice the niggles.

I couldn't help but notice a slight Sony-esque lag when I used a demo unit. It has been present on my current XS and previous X10. More nit picking but always thought, for example, the GS3 was better in this department (for Android).

I've had no issues with any lag or the screen. In fact most of the issues I have had are down to (I think) the fact that this is my first Android phone and I just dont really know how to use it that well.

The one disappointment has been the camera. I knew poor light performance presented issues but by poor light you need to understand it means anything other than bright lights. I took plenty of photos at around mid day on Sunday which was a bright but overcast day. I would place the quality of the shots some way behind my Iphone 4 (which was what I upgraded from) and keep in mind that the iPhone 4 was the last model before Apple started to pay attention to the camera.

yup as i've said before i did notice some lag too! :) it may be that the phone is a demo one and they do normally get a lot of abuse but still that wouldn't explain it.. when my s2 was a lot snappier

I see some Z's come with chrome browser and Sony's one while others only come with Chrome.

Watching videos on youtube the Z's with both browsers have the better screen.

For instance, look at the screen on this video it looks great. And the ui doesn't have that milky white overlay.

I don't have an Xperia Z, I have an S3 but thanks for the "tone". My point is your post was bordering on trolling and had zero detail around what "flaws" you refer to. Presumably your 13k posts are also light on any useful content?

Please link to professional reviews referring to a flawed phone also.

Minimal lag sometimes when switching and flicking through screens, although i think it may have been due to widgets updating all at once.
Again, i will say that i think the phone is great. Not perfect of course! What phone is?

Screen protector.

Just taken both my screen protectors of the front and back off my phone.
why they put them on a scratch resistant glass is stupid. screen is loads brighter and very responsive now. glad i did it. taken the screen protector of my xperia s as well. looks like sony put them on all phones. even got a included free screen protector. why lol. my black phone dont pick up as much dust now its just glass not plastic.

What did you use to take them off and did they leave any residue?

Would you say the glass has oleophobic coating?

That's why. It's scratch resistant, not scratch proof. It's still quite easy to scratch even the toughest of glass screens.

Hmm I thought those screen protectors (I.e. The ones already on the phone, not the ingress in the box) were the anti-shatter films for the glass...

Mine came with the front one on although its pretty hard to tell and i'm sure its anti-shatter and not a scratch proof coating as there are no cut outs.

I've since put on the supplied protectors front and back as i seem pretty prone at scratching screen with my job.

Yeah I think so too, hence why I think what Dazboots has taken off are the anti-shatter films.

If it is like the Xperia S it is very hard to see until you realise it is there, then it just peals off like a very well applied anti scratch protector. With the Xperia S it really improved the look, feel and performance of the screen.

Yeah the look and feel now there removed is much much better. ;)

Also remember it is not a shatter proof protector, it just means that if the glass shatters bits could fall out. Bit like they have on public transport for health and safety (had a bus window shatter over me once, all that kept it together was the sticky clear sheet of plastic).
