Anyone else had this problem? I've googled the issue but had no luck.

I'm using the RCA adaptor (I think thats what it's called...) at the moment, but i'm concerned I may be loosing quality?

I fitted the card yesterday and wasn't able to install the drivers off the disk for some bizzare reason so had to go online to download them, maybe this has something to do with it.

I'm pretty sure i'v also disabled all the onbaord mobo audio devices so there shouldn't be any conflicts anywhere...

Help :(

Yes you have to switch the output manually. It doesn't have any auto sensing. No reason at all for it to really, not on the card itself. The idea is that headphones are left connected as speakers use separate connection. Auto sensing on the front audio connection would have been nice, but I think only the DG/DGX has that. Bizarre really, as Realtek onboard audio has done this for years.

Anyway, back to the issue at hand. If you select 2 speakers from the output selection, you get no sound at all from the RCA outputs? Are you using the RCA to 3.5mm lead to connect speakers to the RCA outputs?

That's fine, that's what the included cable is for. You won't lose any quality that way, as it just combines both left and right RCA into one 3.5mm socket. Loss of quality only comes about when using splitters to connect one 3.5mm into two devices. RCA to 3.5mm leads just combine or separate the channels, not duplicate them.
