Since when has it not been like that

Every publisher has it's staples that are guaranteed to bring in money then they take a risk on new IP's in the hope they'll become big successes.

As I said "AS THEY EXPECTED” Not, what WE expected. If they didn’t raise their own expectation so high then it wouldn’t be a problem.

Take the Final Fantasy series for example. Final Fantasy 7 made Square back then, now SquareEnix the most money for them and the most successful in the series.

Years on they are still making games in the series despite sales figures has dropped since. Now we are on the 13th numbered game with 3rd sequel in its own series. People didn’t ask for it and Final Fantasy 13 had been criticized but they are doing it anyway.

You would think they would have given up years ago after Final Fantasy 10-2 but they are still carrying on and not giving up. Can’t say the same about EA, many other developers or publishers.

And yet Fifa 13 (since September?) remains near the top of the charts as people continue to lap it up. As long as the profit keeps on rolling in EA will continue to pour money into games like this and let anything else go.

Shame about DS though as the first one was so great.

Unless you have a good breakdown on the costs and sales of the Dead Space series (not to mention the developer as a whole) then I think they're slightly better off when it comes to having expectations for it's performance in the market!

EA have been heavily restructuring in recent years.

FIFA 13 is all about online!

When they brought out 13 they pulled the online plug on 12 forcing those that love playing online to buy the game again.

It's a tactic that simply works.

So how many well loved gaming franchises does that mean EA has ruined now then? I count 9?

Command and Conquer
The Sims
Sim City

UPDATE: Dino Ignacio, UI Lead at Dead Space developer Visceral Games, has denied today's story about the end of the Dead Space series.

"The reports of our death were greatly exaggerated," he tweeted. "Please stand by."

EA's US PR team has reportedly called the VideoGamer.com report "patently false". Eurogamer has once again asked EA for clarification.

Command and Conquer - Ran it course.
The Sims - Never played can't comment.
Sim City - Never played can't comment.
Dead Space - Like 'em all. Co-op in 3 was excellent.
Madden - Never played can't comment.
Mass Effect - Love all three, last one was fantastic.
SSX - Never played can't comment.
Battlefield - BF3 has been and still is excellent and I look forward to the next.
Dragon Age - Didn't like the first one which brings me too......

.....it all about opinion. Just being someone thinks one thing doesn't make it fact. Simple solution is if you don't like it don't buy it, something else will be along to fill the gap in the fullness of time.

If this is true then it is a sad day for gaming!

DS1 was superb.. tons of atmosphere!!!!

DS2 was also superb.. had its tense moments but also had a fair bit more action.
Some of the quick time events and cutscenes were jaw dropping.

DS3 is a fantastic game.. I've finished it 3 times so far, once on normal then Impossible Co op followed by a run through on Classic. I am playing it on Pure Survival Co Op and I am going to start Hard Core soon.

The weapon systems have improved with each game imo..

The story hasn't but tbh I'm not so sure they started this universe with the idea of making 2 other games.

Stick me on an industrial space craft with a Plasma Cutter and some Necromorphs and I'll play.. it just works imo.

Guys, can we stop pretending Dead Space was amazing? It had cliche shock scares and grossly inconsistent gameplay. By the time you reached the end of the game, you were an overpowered space commando blasting wave upon wave of generic space aliens.

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't a masterpiece. Silent Hill 2 is a horror masterpiece and Dead Space isn't a fraction of the game Silent Hill 2 is.

Even though these rumours are apparently false,i'd lay blame soley at EA's feet if this turned out to be true.
They have said EVERY game of theirs HAS to have MP. EVERY game now will apparently have micro transactions. They are ruining their games with this BS.
Dead Space in particular should be a single player game. There's no need for co-op or MP. If they want to release DLC to make more money then add extra mission to game.
