Cat on car bonnet. Sometimes under my car.

Seems a cat has taken a liking to sleep on my bonnet at night and sometimes under the car. Honestly i have no problem but don't want to one day flatten the poor thing by mistake.
Any way to humanely stop this behaviour? Possibly without the cat hating me for life? I've noticed its only my car for some reason do cats take a liking to an object like that?

We had the same problem the other day - neighbours pussy cat happily sitting on the bonnet of my OH's car. It disappeared quickly enough when the engine was started so I should imagine it'll do the same when lying under your car when you start the engine up op.
